I'm sceptical about the choice of Gilardino alone upfront, but otherwise its a pretty compact formation. If Perrotta can reproduce his form and form a solid wall with Gattuso then we can shut down the crucial duo of Rosicky and Nedved which will go a long way in beating the Czechs.

Despite his 31 goals in Serie A for Fiorentina, the forward has been omitted for the vital Group E clash.

Boss Marcello Lippi has instead opted to push Francesco Totti into a second striker role and bring Mauro Camoranesi into the side.
