I think Juve have something to do with this http://football-italia.net/52481/official-vrsaljko-sassuolo
There is a real possibility we are seeing him as a replacement for Lichtsteiner and using Sassuolo as our feeding club while a good player for them help them as well...
I suspect you'll see more claims of deals like this where there is the suspicion of another club working in the background.

In the past this probably would have been open (if Juve are indeed involved) as they would have signed him and then co-owned him to Sassuolo.

Now that co-ownerships are being phased out, clubs are going to be looking for ways to keep operating in the ways they used to.

Our squad is still miles ahead of the rest of the league.
:disagree:

Juve finished 7th without Conte and I assume they will go back to finishing 7th now that he is gone.

Roma are not that far away...
Roma have a good team, certainly improved all the right areas, but when I look at ours, warm smile comes to my face. We have fantastic group of players, our bench looks quite strong and with one top signing we might do some real damage in the CL.

I agree but this top signing seems to just not meant to be.. add to this the fact we have Allegri instead of Conte and our team have been actually weakened

I'm not so sure tbh. Not without a proper treq/winger anyway.
That is our one weakness. We are over flowing in most other areas.

Our bench back 4 would be Caceres-Bonucci-Ogbonna-Asamoah. That's possibly the 3rd best back line in Serie A after our starters and Roma's.

Our bench CMs would be Marchisio-Asamoah-Pereyra.

I think overall our bench would finish top 8 quite easily.

I think it's easy to forget that we finished 17 points clear and Roma didn't even have CL. It's shocking when you look back at it.

Yeah, agreed but you should take into account motivation factor as well as Conte -> Allegri swap. At this point Allegri is a big gamble, especially for Serie A. I'm not worried about CL because it would be hard to do worse than Conte did last season but in Serie A Conte owned everyone.

I personally don't view Allegri as a gamble. I really like the fact that he seems happy to not tinker too quickly with our tactics. I like that he's always very composed and well thought out. I think if we decline, it will not be because he decided to radically change certain things about our squad or got overwhelmed or started making mistakes because of emotion.

I think he's a safe choice. Much safer than if we hired someone like Spalletti or Sinisa Mihajlovic for example. Allegri strikes me as the type to win Serie A by only a few points but do much better in the CL because of smart squad rotation throughout the year. Conte took every game as life or death when it really wasn't.

There's also a part of me that wonders just how long Conte's philosophy would hold up. It's hard to go 100 mph every day for 3 years. If he burnt himself out so quickly, imagine what the players must be feeling and perhaps taking the foot off the pedal just a bit could be a blessing in disguise.

The best we can do is to keep improving the squad, which we are doing, and to gradually shift into a new style of play, which it looks like we're doing as well. Then we just have to hope for the best.

Let's hope you're right then. I'm not that optimistic when it comes to Allegri.

AS Roma is great this year, i think they can do another important deal( especially if they can move Ljajic).
Sabatini is the top manager in the league, now. Yes it's too soon, but I think they can win this year.
