I guarantee you that ref could hear the foot against the shin pad from that distance. Even without eyes he could have made that call and he gives a red to Cuadrado!!

The fact that there was contact automatically means it wasn't a dive. A dive implies no contact. Embellish maybe, but not a dive, it was still a foul.

That is true, if we go by the current refereeing standards. I'd like to see more of this, where if it's a dive, it's a yellow. It's the only way to come close to getting rid of diving.

But maybe Cuadrado was getting on his nerves throughout the game and nagging players or something so the referee got fed up. We won't know for sure.

Oh I agree blatant diving should be punished, but I don't think it was a dive.
