I think the standard of the bigger clubs has gone up this season.

Think the standard of the bottom half of the league may have dropped this season compared to last.

May prove not to be the case over the course of the season, but that's my initial impression.

Roma continuing to see the value of having a properly functioning midfield for the first time in ages. It's been in midfield that Roma have been losing Derbies, but today they were able to contain Lazio's midfield intially and gradually take control as the game went on.

That then meant that Roma were able to get the ball to their talented players enough to give them a real chance to influence the game. I don't think Roma had been able to do that in recent games against Lazio, which has meant Lazio's defence has had to do very little by way of serious defending in recent Derbies. I thought Cana and Ciani both had very good games today, and Roma still created a reasonable number of chances.

Be interesting to know if it was a decision by Garcia or if it just sort of happened, but I liked how Roma really focused on attacking down their right at the start of the second half. Meant that were actually getting their front three close enough together to give them a chance to link up, where the spaces between them had been far too big in the first half to really given them much chance to do anything.

Yep, I pretty much agree with your assessment.

Balotelli missed a penalty.
John Obi Mikel scored.
Arsenal are top of the league.
Valdes is saving penalties.
United lost with Howard Webb.
Barcelona had 48% possession!

next 4 match days:

chievo - juve
napoli - sassuolo

torino - juve
genua - napoli

juve - milan
napoli - livorno

fiorentina - juve
roma - napoli

will be interesting to see the table after that. obviously cl in between :D. not the easiest fixtures coming up for us ;)
We have one relatively easy fixture, Napoli have one tough fixture. We played the weakest team in the CL group (and lost points) they played the strongest and won the match.

Thought Napoli were very fortunate in that game.

They started excellently, but then needed a lot of luck for that third-rate Milan to not score several goals.

The same failings of Mazzarri's Napoli were still evident through much of the second half: Napoli's ball retention is still poor when the defence needs the rest of the team to relieve some pressure; and the defence still looks incapable of seeing a game out comfortably - it was all unnecessarily frantic around the Napoli box for long periods.

Means that, unless that improves, Napoli are likely to end up dropping points late in tight games.

I agree.

Napoli won, but they weren't all that impressive.

Juve can beat them without a doubt.

Should Higuain get injured who would they replace him with, Pandev?
Thing is, dont bother about "injured", bother about rotation, wich is were napoli lacks

Cavani was a disgusting powerfull beeing, that never missed a game, never sat out with a knock, never injured etc.

Higuain on the other hand, will have to be rotated from time to time, wich will dramatically hamper napoli's frontline

Juve on the other half, has a much better selection of forwards on the bench.

I mean fuck, who is on the bench once llorente settles ? vucinic or llorente ? and then there is quag

Duvan Zapata is his name, power tank, Pandev is direct replacement for all attacking positions, winger, Hamsik and Higauin it seems. While Zapata is pure box striker, and only real one on the bench.
