It can work both ways though. Napoli and Fiorentina have used that ridiculous money to build their squads, and build for a more sustainable future.

Really, what this league needs badly is for most teams to have new stadiums. It would help the clubs in terms of revenue and would provide a better spectacle for fans at the games and on TV. Would probably be able to attract better offers for the overseas TV rights deals as well.
Stadiums are the key but local councils seem always to be blocking clubs in making this step forward. Also many clubs are unwilling to take a risk of building one or can't find the funds to finance the project.

i agree about fiorentina. but napoli looks on paper (!!) weaker than last year. and i am sure benitez will find a way to spend that cavani money for some overrated players

Who says they can't?

They choose not to because teams are offering insane amounts of money for players.

That's a very different scenario from being stuck in a situation where you are forced to sell players as soon as someone makes a half decent offer for them.

They cant so much because these players want to move on to bigger and better things, even when they want to be in Italy, like Jovetic, Italian clubs arent able or willing to invest, there was a time when the best players in Udinese, Palermo, Fiorentina or Roma would sign for the big 3 clubs, now they all go abroad. And the more it happens, the more any emerging quality player wants to follow suit when they breakthrough.

Marquinhos isn't leaving for a bigger club. He's leaving because a retarded, new age plastic oil club is offering Roma nearly €40M and probably tripling his wages. Ditto Cavani. Napoli and Roma have just made/saved millions of euros on one player alone. I know which clubs out of those are more sustainable in the long term

of course its a different scenario. still those players want to move to bigger clubs or get better wages. and most of the money earned is either to pay off debt or some 10-15 mil okayish players. i mean years ago pastore lavezzi and co wouldn't have left serie a. and today its jojo cavani and co. so i don't see the rise of the league to be honest.
Ah, so until Serie A is back to being the best league, you aren't going to acknowledge progress.

It's not even normal clubs that are able to take players away from Serie A - it's only the oil clubs who have unlimited money that are signing the players.

Is Ligue 1 better than Serie A because PSG and Monaco have unlimited cash?

You have to arrest the decline and put your house in order before you can start to grow again. You don't just go from clubs being in terrible shape and getting shit crowds to everything being great overnight.

Most significant clubs are now in decent shape financially and Milan and Inter are in the process of sorting themselves out. Serie A's rise in crowds last season will have been the first rise for a while and is a sign things are improving and that is then backed up by a higher calibre of player being signed by Serie A clubs this summer than has been the case for several years.

most clubs are dead broke and can't attract big players. and to be honest other than juve i don't see an italian team doing well in europe.
Who are broke?

Milan and Inter are in bad shape, but most other significant sides are okay.

Napoli, Fiorentina and Lazio are all going have decent sides next season and all are going to be capable of doing okay in Europe.

Pretty decent for the league to see players like Ogbonna, Icardi, Belfodil, Benatia and Poli move within Serie A, on top of gaining Balotelli, Tévez, Gómez and Llorente in 2013.

Much better than previous years. There are a few like Honda and Joaquín that are cool additions too.

Edit: And the great Binho remains.

Marquinhos if he turns out good could be like how Man U spend on Rio. Whereby the player served the club for a high transfer fee justifiably or like Buffon with Juve, both were sign at a young age and have been proven money's worth.

Roma has a decent looking midfield. And they would have more money now with the sales of Marquinhos, But they seem to be abit loss at the back, signing a declining Maicon and De Sanctis.
