You are looking for logic in inter transfers, they've just sold their best player
that doesn't matter, Stramaccioni has set up a system which wouldn't have suited sneijder anyways, at least not with both Sneijder and cassano on at the same time. But in the mean time have coutinho out on the market, so what sense is there in selling coutinho who hasn't played much this season for a similar type of player who has been inconsistant this season.

What system that is that you cant play one of your best players?
Sneijder wasnt playing because he didnt wanted to sign new contract for lower wage

again you miss the point, i'm not even talking about sneijder. What im saying is what is the point in buying belhanda, if they can't even accomodate for coutinho? Further more what is the point in selling Coutinho only to replace him with a player of a similar standard.

He wasn't crap, but he never found good form because he was always disrupted by injury. Varied performances generally. It was probably for the best that Inter got rid of him and his salary, but they didn't manage the situation well.

As a club they should be looking to make more out of Coutinho, he was good last season.

Sneijder hasn't functioned properly ever since Mourinho left Inter. He's the type of player that a skilled coach needs to build his entire team around. He doesn't work defensively, he didn't do that under Mourinho either. He needs players to run in very specific patterns and he needs the ball all the time for his magic to start flowing.

Would not say dying, more adapted. For several reasons, such as increased tempo and athleticism of the game and different requirements in a role, you will see a lot of players, that woud've been called trequartista's in the past, playing in different roles. You have those that became forwards or wingers like Messi, Giovinco and Jovetic, who you could say were already preceded by the likes of Totti, Del Piero and Baggio before. Although that is a a giant and (somewhat) false leap in history.

Then you have those that adapted to become midfielders instead. Consider the likes of Modric, Iniesta, Hernanes.

But as you said, vice versa you have your midfielders who adapted to palying the 3/4 role, to match the changed game. Consider the likes of Hamsik and Gerrard to your Boateng and Guarin(Bradley and Vidal, I would not consider to be so).

I honestly beleive Spaletti in his Roma time preceded or ot least illustrated a lot of these changes. Totti, a 3/4 as striker. Perrotta a battling midfielder as 3/4, Vucinic, who has a lot of 3/4 characteristics as winger. And Aquilani and Pizarro as midfielders instead.

So perhaps one could conclude players have become a lot more universal and less specific or less specialistic.
yeah, i read the article too. it's because a team with a trequartista is easy to defend.

yeah, but he's worth it. altho strama nor inter were able to accomodate him so selling him was common sense.

Baggio: 'FIGC project a failure'

Roberto Baggio has angrily terminated his job with the FIGC. “I am leaving because they haven’t allowed me to work.”

The Divine Ponytail was brought in after the 2010 World Cup as part of a renewal process and given the role of President of the Technical Sector.

He was meant to help revamp the youth team process to create more home-grown talent.

“I am leaving because they haven’t allowed me to work,” slammed Baggio on the TG1.

“I don’t care about keeping seats of power. I tried to perform the role that had been given to me, to renew the foundations of football training from children to teenagers in order to grow good players.

“I was not allowed to do this and am no longer prepared to carry on. I presented my project in December 2011. It was a 900-page plan and remained a dead letter.

“As President of the Technical Sector, I had no right to vote in the Federation meetings and there was no point going to meetings that had nothing to do with my work.

“For example, when I presented this plan I spent five hours waiting outside to then have a 15-minute presentation.

“The FIGC had set aside €10m for this project and I am grateful to President Giancarlo Abete for what he has done, but so far I have not received any funds to proceed. It all remained on paper.

“This is why I must sadly say goodbye. Is it definitive? I love football and my country, so I remain ready for any interesting proposal.”

Abete :howler:

This is what happens when you leave a clueless, arrogant and useless moron like him in charge of the FIGC for all these years. This FIGC have tried their best to ruin what's left of Italian football at every turn.

Didn't he win the Ballon d'Or when Inter won the treble? Can't believe he's going to be playing in Turkey now.

He came 4th I think, behind Messi, Iniesta and Xavi.

which is kind of ridiculous, considering he was important for merda winning the treble and holland reaching WC final.
