Buffon
Lichtsteiner-Barzagli-Bonucci-Chiellini*
Vidal-Pirlo-Marchisio*
Giovinco-Matri/Immobile**-Vucinic

*Once they are fit
**If we bring him back

Giovinco obviously doesn't offer the defensive work that Pepe did but I'd be willing to take that risk. I think we should try that.
That would be valid untill awesomoah returns, and one does not simply bench the defensively best leftwingback in the world

Eliminating the opponents team every creative move down a flank, pushing it entirely back, and able to exchange passes next to their penalty box

IS allways better, its just a matter who wins the flank. Imagine if he'd shut down robben. What good is a robben when he is locked down the entire game ?

it's not just that. even though we had a lot of draws last season, we played some pretty convincing football.

this season, yeah we show character to grind results (chelsea game comes to mind) but we look shaky and un covincing in quite a few games. i don't expect us to win every game by a dominating performance, but its quite alarming the amount of performances that we struggled to impose our game in

you could also make a case that we took the league by suprise. i don't think anyone expected juve to finish anywhere in top 3 considering the past seaons, and the static, uninspired football of post calciopoli didnt really scare anyone. so it i think lots of teams were caught of guard by the disciplined, organized and physical character of the team and it's attack minded free flowing focus was hard for lots of teams to cope with.

I certainly prefer their style of play.

I was rubbing shoulders with the man in my 'tar at an event on Friday night.

He is, but he's behind Dias in the pecking order.

Despite Dias being the better player, you could make quite a strong case for Lazio being a better team with Ciani in it.
Perhaps, though it would be risky. I was actually quite surprised that an Italian team went for Ciani and not an English one, he's the kind of physical defender who isn't very smart that would be more suitable for the EPL. He's strong and fast, but not that intelligent.
