Suspends work? Is Monday declared a national holiday in Italy where everyone has the day off? What am I missing?

Or are we just talking about the suspension of calcio, where a player -- a guy who goes on the pitch as an athletic performer who rationally does not believe that he's risking death in taking up such a cause -- collapses and dies on national television while in service to that national sport?

It's true that in auto racing the drivers merely slow down instead of suspending the race in case of a death. But just how many sports do you know where players die in the middle of play like that?

By suspend work I mean calcio. The players arent playing for the fun of it. Its a profession, a career. e

It was all over my twitter time line, but I just read a story that he will take care of her for the rest of her life, and guardianship wasn't mentioned. The important thing is that she will be taken care of.

I was under the impression that it was the club, Udinese, doing so.

However, if it's Di Natale himself (or in conjunction), then that's just a grandiose gesture. Absolute class act he is.

I know it's such a North American thing to think that the financial concerns of a grumpy ticket-holder with a booked hotel room and airfare trumps the mourning and sympathies for one dead player. But IMO, I think it's much more civilized.

I think it must the be the shock, and more importantly, that the player collapsed/died on the pitch that is the biggest factor. It would've been very hard to digest for everyone. This is why suspension or postponement does not occur for any other players who've died tragically or unexpectedly off the pitch, say the youth league for the recently dead Laziale etc.

How can a $ value be put on a life? those ticket holders hat a day/weekend ruined and *may* have lost some money because of what happened. One person has lost their life and his family has lost someone. Who cares about anything else
