That's the problem of this forum. The easiness with which labels are given. Muslim hater, Del Piero hater etc.

If I'm against buying average Italians for the sake of being Italian, I'm not against buying quality players, no matter where are they from. But that's something some people can't understand. For them its only black or white and when one dares to criticize anything Italian, it becomes all black for those people.
If we have to choose between an average Italian and an average Croat player I'd rather buy the average Italian. Why? Well, for one because he's adjusted to Serie A, he knows exactly what to expect. Another reason is that it's easier to build a "team" out of 11 Italians than it is to build a team out of 11 nationalities.
eh that response was a general reply...there are top quality italians and we have some in our squad..and there are mediocre players that are currently in squadra azzurra and you pointed out well that we turned into the italian nt. That's why i would like some argies, brazilians, english, spanish, cameroonian players here..and a non italian coach.

Lets be honest, we'd have never bought Motta if he was a Polish reserve RB in Roma and I doubt we'd have even thought about buying a 22-23 year old Bonucci if he was Polish defender playing in Bari.

Of course not. We overlook better foreign players and several folks seem to be OK with that, and you know the reason why.

Though I'm fine with Bonucci as he does seem to have a lot of talent. It's the Pepe's and Motta's that we need to stop giving Affirmative Action to.

How funny that you agreed. Man, it must be tough for you that Turin happens to be in Italy.

The only semi entertaining player there is Mesto. Maybe Rafinha or Veloso, but it's surely not worth to watch a match because of them. Greek teams are not known for beautiful football also :p

Panucci announces retirement

Christian Panucci has announced his retirement. “I had offers, but I just don’t feel the hunger anymore.”

The defender spent last season at Parma, but has decided to hang up his boots at the age of 37.

“I had offers from the United States, but I just don’t feel the same hunger anymore,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“I thank all the teammates I ever played with, the Coaches who trained me and the clubs I worked with.

“Looking back, the most exciting moment was winning the European Cup with Real Madrid, as I was the first Italian ever to lift the trophy with that shirt.”

Panucci started his professional career at Genoa in 1991, moving on to Milan, Real Madrid, Inter, Chelsea, Monaco, Roma and Parma.

He also amassed 54 caps and four goals for the Azzurri.

So you are basically critiquing players, rather than saying 'we bought _ _ because they are Italian'.

How funny that you agreed. Man, it must be tough for you that Turin happens to be in Italy.
:D It's a problem.

Here, I'll go

Azpilicueta for RB position being one example.
Good on FM, I've only seen him play a handful of games, makes you wonder why other teams weren't going in for him at that price.

We mould the next Italian stars we don't buy them :p
You get it ;) The problem is that we are trying to do it en masse, before we could add 2-3.

What a shame that Belgium isn't called "Italy."

So you are basically critiquing players, rather than saying 'we bought _ _ because they are Italian'.
So you deny that we reward more points to transfer targets if they're Italian?

It should be the other way around in Affirmative Action.

I've never wanted to be an Italian. Living in Italy might suit me, but that's where it stops. I'm very happy I'm Belgian.

However I do find it kind of nice that I could actually talk with our players and that I actually understand what the papers write about us ;).

If we have a player of the same ability, don't you think them being Italian is preferable to us? I don't see who these players are that we could sign that are markedly better for the same amount of money, also taking into account how Italian players don't have to settle in the country. Unless you think we should go to South America and build a team from there, risky business.

If the choice is Pandev or Iaquinta for the same price, Inter will go for Pandev, Juve will go for Iaquinta.

That's the question. Are we preferring the Italians because they are of the same quality as the other options? As said before, there is no question that the Italian should be preferred to a foreigner of the same quality, but are we talking about players of the same quality?
