Pepe also scored 7 goals (as a winger) and had 4 assists last season. Martinez and Pepe are of the same age. Pepe is, unlike Martinez, an international player. Why wouldn't you want to compare the two?
Martinez is too an international player (18 matches...Pepe has 19) and he was surely gonna make the superior to Italy Uruguayan team, of which he was a regular, if he didn't lose ground due to the injury that hunted him down in the end of the season.

And again you're missing the main point. In time when the Italian football is in crisis, we still proceed with our policy to invest mostly in Italian players (6/8 new players in Juve are Italian). Italian players aren't cheaper than the non-Italians. Quite the contrary, as it's the case with every country, the domestic players are valued higher if they're of the same quality as the foreigners. Pepe being some 1.5m eur cheaper than Martinez isn't because he's Italian, it's because he's the inferior player to Martinez.

Who you think we should have bought? What good players you have in your mind? I mean to replace those average players with.
I can't mention names. It's easy to say "Juve should have bought X" without knowing if there was a chance at all to buy him.

I know that I'd have definitely gone for experience in the back line and kept the 4-2-3-1 we tried before November last year.

Do you mean "money" when you talk of the chance to buy a certain player? 4-4-2 is the coach's decision and we need wingers to use that formation. What player would you want us to buy instead of Pepe?

any non italians..
That's the problem of this forum. The easiness with which labels are given. Muslim hater, Del Piero hater etc.

If I'm against buying average Italians for the sake of being Italian, I'm not against buying quality players, no matter where are they from. But that's something some people can't understand. For them its only black or white and when one dares to criticize anything Italian, it becomes all black for those people.

If we have to choose between an average Italian and an average Croat player I'd rather buy the average Italian. Why? Well, for one because he's adjusted to Serie A, he knows exactly what to expect. Another reason is that it's easier to build a "team" out of 11 Italians than it is to build a team out of 11 nationalities.

I'm not a scout. Ask Wenger. He probably knows all the talented cheap players in France and Europe. He made stars out of most of them.

I wonder if Juve has scouts at all.

That's not even arguable. I fail to see your point.

When was the last one we made a shot on someone like Pastore and give him a chance? Never.

We have scouts but they are horrible. They should learn a thing or two from Lyon, Porto even Palermo.

Alen, Do you ever ask yourself why we don't even buy Italian good players? Why don't we sign Cassano for example? If we are only after Italian players, why don't we consider one of the few good ones?

What do you mean? That an average Croat is just as good as an average Italian? Because he isn't you know. Not for an Italian team.
I mean that it's not an issue at all to prefer an average Italian over an average Croat. Not only for Juventus but also for every single big team since Italy has better football than Croatia, traditionally.

You really think that my reaction would have been any different if instead of average Italians we sign Knezevic and 5 more average/below average Croats or average non-Italians?

No, it won't. But that is not happening. What is happening is: Juve signing average Italian players.

Yes. Because we can afford average. If we could afford Dzeko, we would have bought Dzeko.

It's because they are very few and they will be extremely expensive.
Your point is to say that we don't have the money to buy good expensive players, no matter their nationality, but in the last 2 seasons we paid +20m eur for 3 non-Italians.
There are like 2-3 Italian players who cost more than 20m eur and two of them were/are impossible to be bought from a rival team.

That's because we worked awful. Instead of buying 1-2 quality players +5 average ones like Grosso who come cheap but drain the wage budget, we should go after 3 quality expensive players.
But we fucked it up so badly year after year that every summer we find ourselves needing 8-10 new players to replace the average ones we bought the summer before, who failed terribly.
