We certainly need to score goals, but the problem is I don't see the creativity or the quality in the side that will create those chances for Dzeko. When Alex or Trez were scoring goals we still struggled to create chances in the static systems we ran under Capello and Ranieri, but at least guys like Pavel and Camo could deliver some clutch crosses. They had quality, but guys like Pepe and Martinez do not, and that's the difference.
We need a major overhaul, instead we are getting duct tape.

I would have went with a different approach, that's for sure. Would have kept Giovinco instead of getting Martinez, would have kept Ekdal, and maybe would have brought back Lanzafame.

If you carefully look at the names in our squad, you'll ask yourself: "Where will the goals come from?"

Neither of Amauri and Iaquinta offers goals and since Del Piero doesn't seem to be a starter anymore, we can't expect ~20 goals even from the SS position.

Right now I too choose Amauri ahead of Iaquinta, but I also understand why was Juve after Dzeko and I disagree with those who thought that we need players for 3-4 other positions before we start looking for a striker. This Juve desperately needs someone who scores a lot. Trez and Ale were scoring ~40-50 goals per season. Diego-Amauri or Diego-Iaquinta score less than double what Trez-Ale were scoring.
Oh, and our midfielders/wingers were scoring too 2-3 years ago. How much do we expect Pepe, Lanza, Marchisio, Melo and Sissoko to score?
Marchisio could score more often I think. Depends on the role he's given and how confident he feels. In any case the guy can score a goal. Melo, Sissoko and Lanzafame will not score all too often. I don't know about Pepe. Scores 3 to 4 goals a season, which just isn't good enough, but I think he could do better at Juventus.

As for the strikers.. well.. you know how badly I wanted Dzeko to play for us.

Not only crosses. Pavel and Camo also could decide games on their own. Neddy could shoot from everywhere and Camo, at times, was our very own wizard. We do not have players who are anywhere close to them right now.

That rumour of exchanging Camoranesi with Huntelaar was the best I heard this summer, why did it stop circulating?
Can you work on it, Dooz? Don't let Badass_Devil be better than you.

It stopped because it was written by a drunk Tuttosport journalist. :D

Oooh can I add to this?

    And;

    Zapata (fairly high possibility)
Probable return of Criscito and Palladino

At least he was the one who brought Diego and I am sure he had a say in him staying.

    Iaquinta - Amauri (Minutes-Goals-Assists)

    3650 - 5801
    22 - 21
    8 - 6

Amauri played 2 151 minutes more than Iaquinta (roughly 24 matches more). Yet he scored less and assisted less. This is for their time together in Juve in the last 2 seasons.

That Iaquinta is a limited player, it's not arguable, he indeed is. That he's getting injured a lot lately, is not arguable. It's also not arguable that this might be the last chance to sell him and earn something on him, since he's 31 now. But it's strange how superior is Amauri made to look when in reality Iaquinta was more useful to Juve in both seasons these two played together.
Actually, I'd say that Iaquinta is perhaps the only, or one of the 2-3 post-Calciopoli transfers, that didn't fail. The man even cost us twice less than Amauri.
He's bashed too much and he's the last one who deserves the bashing. He accepted the bench, always there to help and even save the day and unlike most of the players, Iaquinta was always giving 100%. We should at least respect that.
We are not doing that. Some hardly wait for an opportunity to bash the dude.
    Top explanation
