That's true, it's too late to reconcile our mistakes.

Depending on the terms of the loan, Aquilani would be a good move in the short run.

It's just that I can't get excited about it, knowing that whatever he does, the outcome for us will be losing the player. He might not even play a huge role anyway because he's always injured.

So basically, what we have is no possible future revenue on the player besides shirt sales, no possible return on the asset, and every chance that we waste a year using a player that needs to be replaced. Essentially, it's like signing a 36 year old Nedved.

The transfer policies the club have taken are simply against my ideals and make little sense from an investment point of view.
I'm not saying Aquilani is an ideal move but what better options do we have right now? If there is one thing we should have learned from the Secco era its that signing mediocre players to long lucrative contracts because we don't have any remaining time to negotiate is a horrible idea.

They won't leave because no better club will buy them or pay their same wages and we are stuck trying to desperately get rid of players because they aren't worth what we are paying them.

Hodgson mentions that Aquilani might be loaned out this season and hours later Corriere dello Sport claims Juventus are favorites to sign him.

Please prove me wrong, Marotta.

Not convinced, it just seems like a short term solution to a long term problem we've had.
Of course it's a short term solution but wouldn't you rather have him for one season than another mediocre player who after he flops we can't get rid of because he has a 4 year contract worth 2.5 mil a season? We've seen what happens when have to get players without anytime to negotiate.

if there arent any better options out there id rather we get him on loan so we arent forced to buy some mediocre player that will be overpriced.

Its funny because as much as Andy critisizes Marotta he must really rate him highly if he expects a transfer better than Aquilani to be neatly wrapped up by the end of the summer. We have to accept that he isn't going to be working miracles.

But what Andy says makes a lot of sense. We are not a mid-lower table team to give some other team's player first team action. It does nothing good for us. I'd rather have someone having lesser quality than Aquilani for a good few years than give someone a chance whom you know is going to leave next season. Loan without option to buy will be a retarded deal...

Ok, loaning Aquilani isn't ideal but it is realistic. And what better options do we have right now?

I've asked this several times and never gotten an answer.

Not sure where I said that, but alright.

Done explaining myself here. The only advice I can offer is that a class on investing would do some good.

I'd rather stick with poor-passing sissoko then buying Aquilani. Not that i don't rate Aqua (which i do) but we will not benefit from this move.

Hodgson is pretty clear, he rather loan Aquilani back to italy so that his price won't drop much coming next summer (by then probably they will sell him out). Either ways this move would benefit Liverpool more than us.

So no thanks...

But you don't rate Marotta or do you? I want a straight answer, do you really expect him (someone you often claim to be limited) to pull off a better move involving a permanent transfer in the coming two weeks? We still need a new CB and possibly a LB as well.

i never said a move for Aquilani is ideal but what better option do we have?

Judging by our current transfer market, no, I don't rate Marotta. I don't expect him to sign someone who is an improvement over Poulsen or better than Aquilani.

And that's my point in this. I can't get excited about any stop-gap measures we may take, especially if that means starting the midfield from scratch again the following summer. These issues should be dealt with now.

That's all I've got to say regarding it.

So you acknowledge that we need a 4th CM? You also can't come up with a better option than loan signing Aquilani but you still don't want him?

And I will ask again, who knows maybe you'll finally answer, I want to know what better options are available?
