Maicon has won everything with Inter. Why does that make him different or make Inter pathetic?

And how do you know who chose that Maicon is to be sold?
Yeah.
This whole shit is much bigger than Inter. I mentioned once how disappointing it is to see how have the serie A teams fallen at the level to just be feeder clubs to Barca and Real.
It's almost as if the players, not all though, mostly the non-Italians, are using Inter, Milan and the other serie A teams, as a step towards the ultimate dream, to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona.

For example, Inter don't need any money at all. They have a very rich owner who pays high wages, some of the highest in the football world, who doesn't have a problem investing lots of money and who would prefer to keep the star players, but still they can't manage to do that when Real Madrid is an option for the player, despite winning everything possible and being the best club in the world currently.
What is left for the other serie A teams who need the money then?

The league simply lost its attractiveness. While in the past it was the final step in the player's career, now it's just a step towards the final step.
Sad, indeed. We all know the reasons for this so no need to mention them again.

While I would agree with your point in general (the decline of the Italian teams / league), I really don't think you should use Real as an example.

Real has been the "ultimate" club (or the final step as you put it) for a lot of players for many, many years. If they want a new player, they go out & get him. Regardless of the costs or needs.
Even back when the Italian league was on top, Real was still (wrongfully) considered a step forward.

Yes and no.
No because in the 1990's Berlusca's Milan was the ultimate step, with Juve and even Inter being more attractive options than any club in Spain and England.
Yes because starting from Perez's galactico projects, which last for a good decade now, Real has indeed been the biggest dream for the players.

Right now though, it's not just Real Madrid that's a step forward and that's the problem. Barca with their football are every player's dream while the English with their money and league popularity can always attract players away from Milan, Juve or Inter. :frown:

Yeah, I was mostly referring to the Galacticos project which has been going on for quite some time now.

You do have a point about Barca though. Ever since they started promoting themselves as the "beautiful" team, they became somewhat of a Real Madrid version 2, albeit on a smaller scale.

As for the Premier League, I really don't know what to think. Seems to me like those teams, except Man City, have become a lot more careful these days. Will be interesting to see if they can remain the most popular & best league in the following years.

there are great players who love italy..won't trade it for the world..some can get bored of playin in the same squad over and over. As i said there are some clubs (italian) that kept their key players for years..decades.. inter is just being itself by destroying a winning team...and i'm very glad :)..hope cesar and milito will leave too

but buffon sticked...see? How many times buffon, the greatest keeper could've signed with barca or manure or city but he didn't. you can't generalise the players. There are players who play and think with their heart...and others who play for the money.

Buffon is Italian. He stayed in his own country. It's different for non-Italian stars. Sure, you can find exceptions, but for the majority my point stands.

i'm not sure about that..
Did you see his face in the press conferences and in his presentation? All fake smiles, putting on a brave face. It's like what De Rossi and Buffon said recently about leaving their clubs only if it helps out financially for Roma/Juve, Kaká did that for Milan. In hindsight, it's not a surprise that he's been quite poor this season.

didn't saw it...but i believe it...i was wrong about him but the case remains...Inter doesn't have the name Juventus had back then when we were the best team in the world.

FT Torino 1-1 Sassuolo

At the end, Sassuolo was down to nine men because of two injuries. Well-earned draw for the Emiliani. As far as I know, Toro have to win the 2nd leg to advance to the final.
