I don't hate him. I just think he's a mediocre defender that some people inexplicably think walks on water. He's been better than, say, Nesta in recent years. But then Nesta has been a complete joke when compared to his former, pre-2005 self.

Calling Mexes one of the best defenders in Europe is as laughable as when I talk about Cristian Brocchi on all-time great lists. Almost as laughable as Molinaro's talk of playing for the Italy NT. I have yet to see any evidence in Mexes' play to suggest he's even qualified to be considered one of the best in Italy. It's wholly unwarranted.

Just this season alone, Roma's central defense has been bleeding goals more than a hemophiliac having her period.
He wasn't anything special this season but they are in terrible form, almost all of them.Especially Cassetti in defense and Taddei in their midfield. In the previous season he was great and he barely even made some mistakes in defense.Even when he started playing with Juan that duo was amazing and he was one of the top defenders in Serie A over the past few years. He was on the same level as Chivu when he was shining.

But if you think that way of him I can't argue with you anymore on that subject.

I'm going to say it, and if it pisses some people off, so be it.

That second goal by Pato, that forceful run with blazing pace, and that deft touch on the ball.

I'm not going to say who that reminded me of, Circa 1998, pre injury.

But I'm going to say it anyway.

Il Capitano
The one he scored against Bari for his father, right?

Yeah, Pato's goal reminded me of that goal, but the difference was that instead of just outrunning his opponent, Del Piero tricked him.

I am really happy for Flamini
He played 709 minutes this season, which is around 8 full matches out of 17.
They calculated that he's getting 7 000 eur for every minute he played for Milan, or 630 000 eur for 90 minutes.

I guess the pay check makes him feel better.

Yeah, that one.

Not just that though, there have been several of those type of goals that DP used to score when he was young, when he would be going full speed like a raging bull, and then just put such a delicate touch on the ball with just the right amount of curve. Without even so much as looking up.

that is what Pato reminded me of today

Fred, I am watching Roma - Milan, shall I switch to Bordeaux - PSG when it starts?
Bah that game ended 3-0, its a good thing you kept on watching the Roma - Milan game

I could not agree more. Mexes has never striked me as being world class, i believe people overrate him because of his style(He is a stylish defender no doubt about that)

Does anyone else think Beckham did rather well for his debut? I mean he wasn't special, but for a 34 year old Englishman thats coming on a loan deal from the MLS and who is supposedly an overrated player, he did rather well for his debut imo.

That's because Beckham is one of the all time best.

And I'm not joking. He was and still is a phenomenal player. The reason the Americans and English can't stand him is that he's such a public figure. It hasn't got anything to do with whether or not he's a good player.

He did what he has always done: stand where he is told to and keep possession.

Milan need to play him wider if they want to get the best out of him, though.

Mexes could be great. Has got all the qualities to be an exact copy of what Nesta once was. But, just like Nesta, he needs to have a quality defense surrounding him.
