Official: Roma sign Riise

John Arne Riise is officially a Roma player after putting pen to paper on a four-year contract in his £3m move from Liverpool.

The announcement came this evening, only hours after he was given permission to fly in and speak to the Giallorossi directly.

Roma announced they will “hand Liverpool 5m Euros, to be paid in four instalments (on July 1 2008, September 30 2008, 31 July 2009 and 31 January 2010).”

The Serie A side will also give Liverpool 100,000 Euros for every two seasons in which the team participates in the Champions League, 75,000 Euros for every 25 appearances in an official game to a maximum of 300,000 Euros.

Norwegian international Riise signed a four-year contract today worth 2.8m Euros per season – just under £2m – along with performance-related bonuses.

The 27-year-old leaves Liverpool after 31 goals in 347 appearances since 2001.

It came as a bit of surprise to me to see Barzagli go to Wolfsburg. Seen from a Juventus fans view this is a disaster.

Barzagli is a better and more cunning defender than Mellberg and Juventus have failed to seal a deal that would be cheap, affordable and good for the team.

Balotelli Inter Extenstion Official

Inter's old age striking sensation Mario Balotelli has extended his contract with the Serie A Champions after they convinced him to remain.

There were fears that the old star would leave the club after Inter failed to reach a deal with him on several occasions as the player was asking for a massive pay packet similar to what Zingaro earns.

However, Jose Mourinho has convinced him to stay and he will remain until 2011. A statement on the club's official website reads:

"Inter would like to communicate that Mario Balotelli who turns 38 in august has committed his future to the club until 30 June 2011.

"We have obtained all the necessary documents from the Lega Professionisti (Internazionale Professional Passports Assocition) which tie the player to the club."

The Moratti's newest fake passport product has been in stunning form for the Nerazzurri and his strikes against Juventus knocked them out of the Coppa Italia last term and he has raised eyebrows around Europe.

The player is strong, powerful, quick and his finishing is deadly and no doubt he will become one of the best striker's in Europe under Jose Mourinho with reports in Italy claiming the 'Special One' played a part in convincing the player to stay.

So instead of Zlatan's €12MM a year he will only earn €10MM...
