And we need to upgrade our team before we can consider as contender of something. With this defence we wont go far in CL.
Not to suggest that money doesn't help ... a lot! As our backline proves.

Just that you get to a certain quality level, and no matter how many top signings you make puts you in the area of diminishing returns. Mentality takes over where physical abilities drop off. And while I admire and respect Mourinho, Inter needs a shrink more than it needs a coach.

Well then I guess this is the perfect test. Mourinho, "The Great One" (or whatever he is called these days) to inter will either prove that Inter just needed the right ego - sorry I meant coach or mentality - or prove that nobody, not even the great one, can save Inter.

We shall see.

Barzagli justifies Viola snub Monday 2 June, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Azzurri defender Andrea Barzagli has explained his decision to snub hometown club Fiorentina and join German side Wolfsburg.

The 27-year-old stunned the calcio world last week when he joined Cristian Zaccardo in moving from Palermo to Wolfsburg.

Barzagli had looked almost certain to sign for Fiorentina, the club he supported as a boy, but the Viola didn’t match his wage demands and he chose to emigrate.

“Wolfsburg are my own choice,” he insisted. “I have had the contract for a while, I didn’t sign it here at the Italy training camp in Coverciano

what a stupid player , he leaves a team which will play in Cl and go to a team like Wolfsburg???

If that argument held water, Inter would have won the Champions League by now. They already have the most obscene bench in Serie A. Throw more money on the pile, and how much more are you really going to get out of this? I mean, even the Real Madrid Galacticos strategy has proven out to be a failure -- and how long and how many millions has it been since they last competed in a CL Final again??

What I like about this sport is that money helps a lot, but money isn't everything. Teams like Greece can win the Euro on teamwork, not big names. Teams like Juve win because they bring the best out of their players with a winning mentality -- over and above what the players might individually be capable of.

Inter's strategy is like the USA Olympic baskeball team stuffing its ranks with NBA All-Stars, only to have their egotistical asses handed to them by better teams with lesser stars -- the likes of Spain, Argentina, etc. The moment this sport simply awards trophies to the highest bidder is the moment that the suspense will die and the sport will become meaningless to me.
Good post, Greg. Money is important but not decisive. Great teams like Juventus always find their way to beat the richer and more powerful teams, the so called stars.

I am not scared of either Mourinho, Moratti or Inter's team as Inter is bound to self-destruct one day.

Mourinho excited by Inter challenge

Jose Mourinho has been introduced to the Press as Inter’s new Coach and is relishing the chance to work in Italy.

The former Chelsea man has been brought in to replace Roberto Mancini and has the daunting task of improving on last term’s successful season.

The self-titled 'Special One’, who is set to earn nearly £7m per season, was clearly excited as he gave his first Press conference at Appiano Gentile this morning in almost flawless Italian.

I have arrived at a special club,” he grinned. “I think I am a great Coach but I don’t want to be special.

I am always myself and I don’t change. I am the same person as I ever was and I have that same mission and passion for my work.

“I have always thought that I would like to work in Italy and for a big club and I want to thank Massimo Moratti and Marco Branca for giving me this opportunity.

“This is a very important challenge for me, but I think that it will also be very enjoyable for you
.”

Now Inter fans can wait with eager anticipation to see whether Mourinho swoops for one of Frank Lampard, Deco or Michael Essien, as has been widely suggested in recent weeks.

There's some truth in what you said:D.It's such a shitty club and then they buy Palacio out of nothing?Weird. He surely has other possibilities...
Some truth? :p Who the hell thinks Lazio plays good football? They just have 3 ~good players.

Knowing Lazio's financial status it's probably some loan with option to buy him if he doesn't score in the first 10 minutes for 1kg of peanuts.
