I think it would be extremely difficult to have not one person under the circumstances, whether alcohol was involved pre-game or not, go over the line under the heated situations of an Inter-Juve rivalry and a sh*t-disturber like Balotelli on the pitch.

Of course, the irony here being that juventini in the stands probably hurled a lot worse abuses at the guy. But all it takes is a mild-by-comparison racial epithet to register for any condemnation. Not to excuse that behavior, but as a society we do draw some curious lines between what's considered acceptable and unacceptable hate speech.
One insult would not be picked up though. It's when you watch a crappy stream and you can still actually make out the song (or the monkey chants) that you know they've pushed themselves into a corner.

And even if they did pick up the one guy there would no reason for a stadium ban, just ban the guy (or just let is slide even). It has to be some sort of a group at least.

Ah, yes -- the stadium song. What was I thinking.

English stadiums are pretty sanitized these days, Rab.

They've been cleaning up their act ever since Hillsborough.
Yeah, in the top 2 or 3 leagues. Take a venture into the world of non-league football in England and you'd be surprised (or maybe not) at the things the crowds chant. It's like the 1970's again (not that I was there though!).

Nothing surprises me as to what goes on in grounds.

Half the small towns in England (especially in the north) are still living in the 70s.

What happens in Belgium, stays in Belgium. Why? because it never happens in Blegium, thus it erases itself completely..... crazy, eh?
