Konko did not grow up in our youth system. We bought him at a young age and immediately loaned him out. He's never played a minute for juve, including any youth team.

Roma confirm takeover bid

Roma’s holding company have confirmed an offer was made by a potential buyer, fuelling reports George Soros is on the verge of taking over.

The past few months have seen repeated rumours that American millionaire Soros was planning a takeover bid for the Giallorossi, though up until now they have been strongly denied.

However, today the official club website released a statement on the matter.

“Yesterday a representative given this charge by Compagnia Italpetroli S.p.a was visited by a representative of someone potentially interested in buying up the shares of AS Roma,” read the statement.

Italpetroli are the company founded in the 1960s by President Franco Sensi and are the majority shareholders in the side.

Although there are no specific names in the release, it is believed Soros is behind it and is preparing a massive investment to buy out the Sensi family.

He would pump the cash back into the team and the transfer kitty, creating a world beating squad for next season.

“I don’t know anything about it, so I will continue to act the way I always have,” commented Luciano Spalletti.

“The owners of this club worked hard to improve the team and give moments of great joy to the fans, so I think we will continue along this path and keep on planning.”

You can`t believe how much :money: this guy has.

He said he`d pay all Sensi debts and that`s a lot plus he said he`d probably build a new stadium.
i think investors along with him would help pay debts/build a new stadium. thats how most ppl do these kinds of things. more likely a sponsor would pay for the rights for the stadium thus they pick up a major portion of the tab on it.

Legend Maldini’s Career Over?

AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini may have played his last-ever game after he picked up an injury in training that looks likely to rule him out for the rest of the season.

The 39-year-old has announced that he will be hanging up his boots at the end of the campaign, following almost a quarter-of-a-century at the very top.

However it seems as if Maldini may have already played his last-ever game after he picked up a left thigh injury during training yesterday.

Tests have revealed that the damage done is reasonably severe, and it is expected that the defender will miss the final five games of the campaign.

Maldini has stated recently that he was considering overturning his decision to retire for another year, however the widespread belief is that this will not happen.

The legendary defender made his Serie A debut at the age of just 16 as a half-time substitute in a match with Udinese on January 20, 1985.

During his illustrious career, Maldini has won seven Scudetti, five Champions League titles, two World Club Cups and one Coppa Italia among many other trophies.

He is the all-time record appearance maker for his club and country, having represented the Azzurri on 126 occasions. The defender played in four World Cups and three European Championships and without question will go down in history as the best defender of his generation.

This is sad.I wanted to see him get a phenomenal reception in his final Milan game..and im sure that wouldve take place, not by just Milan supporters, but by supporters of the opponents too.And he would deserve every microsecond if it.

I still hope he can take some part in Milan's final game.Even if its something along the lines of an injured Shearer starting a Newcastle game and being substituted the moment the game kicked off,or like the time Ciro was brought on at the end of a match to get his 500th Serie A game.

Roma snub Soros for Arabs

Just as Roma seemed set for a takeover by American magnate George Soros, the club announces “another group can guarantee double his offer.”

The Sensi family seem ready to sell up their stake in the Scudetto contenders and confirmed negotiations were held with a potential buyer this week.

The rumours of Soros’ interest have been circulating for many months, but this is the first time there has been some official word on the matter.

Representatives of Inner Circle Sports – Steven Horowitz and Philip Hall – were said to be confident the deal would be completed quickly.

However, a stunning development shook both Soros and Roma supporters, as talk of a new bid from an Arab conglomerate emerged.

“The offer no longer satisfies us. We need more time to consider it, as there is another group that can guarantee double,” revealed Sensi family lawyer Gian Roberto De Giovanni.

A bidding war could well break out for AS Roma, although there is the risk the Sensi administration could be left in the lurch.

It is rumoured Soros did not take kindly to the snub and is considering shelving his interest altogether.

It would be ironic if it does happen though . The Italian league would get 5 times more coverage than the premier league and the English would then blame Italy for selling their soul .
