Inter: Mancini is staying!
Wednesday 12 March, 2008

Massimo Moratti surprisingly anticipated his meeting with Roberto Mancini. “He wants to stay and win the Champions League next season.”

Only a few hours ago the President told journalists that he would only meet with the Coach on Thursday, but Mancio was spotted leaving his office this evening.

Moratti came out to talk to the media and confirmed a change of heart for the tactician who had announced his departure after last night’s 3-0 aggregate defeat to Liverpool.

“I had a chat with Mancini, who reaffirmed his desire to stay with Inter for next season and the length of his contract. Next year he wants to win the Champions League.

“The situation is very different from the one that had been described to me, the club and the squad this morning.”

So it looks as if Mancini’s statement these would probably be his last two and a half months in charge of the club proved to be a premature.

However, considering the reaction this announcement received from fans and players alike, it remains to be seen whether Inter will want to continue with this Coach.

Roberto Mancini has released a statement to confirm he won’t be stepping down as Inter Coach and “we want to win the Champions League next season.”

The tactician had announced in a Press Conference after last night’s 3-0 aggregate exit to Liverpool that these would be his last two and a half months in charge of the club and that it was a decision he had made before the defeat.

However, after a meeting with President Massimo Moratti this evening, he sensationally changed his mind.

“Nobody can understand more than President Moratti, the Inter fans and our entire squad what it feels like to miss out on an objective we cared about a great deal,” said Mancini in an official statement released by the club.

“I hope that all those who experience football understand the need to vent frustration and bitterness in such delicate moments.

“A Coach is always the focus point for the group, but that group feeds on deeper emotions than that. After the game I spoke from the heart and the love of Roberto Mancini, Coach.

“I thank President Moratti for having given me strength, understood the moment and where I was coming from.

“I am sorry for the misunderstandings that may have come from that. The team already knows – we are ready to fight until the last minute with great intensity to conquer our third Scudetto and the Champions League right from next season.

“Finally, I would like to thank the extraordinary Nerazzurri fans who supported us until the final whistle and beyond last night, applauding as we walked off the pitch.”

This puts a firm lid on the stories of Mancini’s departure with another four years left on his contract.

Does anyone think that if given the chance, Mancini would do a better job here at Juve than Ranieri?
Not at Juve. He'd get too much shit from the fans even before his first match here and that can bring the best of managers down.At some other team..perhaps.I think Mancini's a good manager, and he's got age on his side. He's won a few league titles at Inter, undeservedley, but he still has that on his Resume.I think in the future, something around 5-6 years perhaps,he could turn out to be a very good manager. He needs to move out of Italy for this obviously, and test his skills in a clean league.I remember reading somewhere that Inter would be the last Italian team he coaches,so he might move to Spain or England after this...whenever he decided to leave Inter.

It is all for the attention and sympathy and a reason to cover their shame. It is obvious now that it has been plotted. Their only goal was to win the Champions League and they crumbled like dry bread, they didn't want to talk about it.

- Mancini says he's leaving and the players know about it.
- The players say they haven't heard him say anything.
- Moratti doesn't say anything.
- Moratti is expected to speak.
- Moratti speaks that he is surprised and he will try to convince him to stay.
- Moratti convinces him to stay.
- Mancini speaks about love and family feelings within Inter.
- Mancini and Moratti re-declare that their goal is the Champions League next season.

They wiped the media off their ass, they gained attention and publicity, they re-stated their fake family feeling, they re-declared their goal in less than 24 hours.

This is Inter!
