I do wonder about which good foreign players we could have easily gotten at the same price though.. I know Andy bitches a lot about these players, but I haven't seen him name anyone in particular.
Not up to Andy to do it.
Andy can mention names that on first glance look very possible to sign, but maybe our lack of CL football was gonna be a stumbling block. Or a name that on first glance looks impossible to sign but good negotiations might have attracted him.
Bayern signed Ribery when they were without CL football. Milan signed Ronaldinho in the same circumstances. Things can be done with good negotiating or even with good scouting. Our scouting system brought us 1 single player in the last years, which is Albin Ekdal, who is nothing special.

I think the transfer fee was 18m eur. For Martinez and for loaning Quagliarella we pay 16.5m.
The wages I am not aware of. My guess is that Martinez and Quag together will earn 2/3 of Robinho's wages.
The difference shouldn't be big by any means and Robinho's attractiveness as a player was gonna bring more money to Juve than Martinez and Quag together, I believe.

One still can't look at it like that because there are different factors when you sign a player. CL might have played a reason in signing someone and there are 100 of small details that make a difference.

In any case, for whatever reason, good or not, we went after quantity instead of quality. Now we can only speculate why and choose what to believe.

His transfer fee is 14M. As for his wages, i already said that Martinez and Quagliarella together would earn close to what Robinho does.
SKY says it's 22m :shifty:

With competition from the likes of Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor, David Silva, Adam Johnson, James Milner and Mario Balotelli, Robinho was not a guaranteed starter and has now moved on for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £22million.

Do you know how much he used to earn at Man City?

van der Vaart. But then again, he doesn't fit with the 4-4-2.
we just sold diego..

robinho wasn't even close to juve..ever..and maybe that's a shame, maybe it's good because he would've give us a terrible headachef after a half of season.

itajuve? great thing..this can only be in our advantage because of the time the players will spend together there (nt training camp) and here, and maybe some game relations will grow a lot more faster.

I don't know if I should trust the lying bastard, but I still trust him more than SKY. :D
Galliani said that Robinho was bought for 18 m eur.

His wages in City were huge. £160 000 a week, I think.

I found this: "They (City) will save around £22.5million in wages and bonus payments he would have been due over the last three years of his contract."
That's around 8m eur a year for wages and bonuses he was getting in City.

I'm pretty sure that he earns much less in Milan, but until it's confirmed we can only speculate.

That's A LOT. Even if he earns half (which I doubt), Quag and Martinez together would still earn less.

Yes, Quag and Martinez together earn 3m eur. I said earlier that I think they two earn 2/3 of Robinho's wages and I still think it's close to that. I guess he's on some 5m eur, maybe even 6.
But the point was that the difference was going to be compensated by his popularity and jersey sales.

Still, it's silly to now talk about it because we have absolutely no idea if Robinho was ever going to accept to sign for us. In his interviews he talks about Kaka, Dinho and other Brazilian legends all telling him to choose Milan.

In todays papers he basically just moans about the weather in Manchester, lack of social life and Elano leaving, it's clear what keeps him happy. I don't ever see him coming to Juve or a player like him, I'd prefer a player with 70% of the skill and 250% of his mentality.

So stop with this quantity over quality theory of yours :D

:shifty: the man is definitely quality, he single handedly won Brazil the coppa america few years ago. Plus he saved Real Madrid's ass soo many times in the past when he was playing there.

Had a dip in form with city (personally i think he wasn't even motivated enough to play with them). If Ronaldinho can find his form with Milan (not 100% but still great). Robinho can "easily" can find his form there.....
He is quality. A bad stint at City does not take that away from him.
Madrid don't seem to have agreed with your opinion.

And he more than failed in City, he stank the place out. Let's see how he does at AC.

That isn't a theory Hoori. That was a choice.

We did it in summer 2007. I didn't like it but I supported it. We had a very thin squad so the choice was to buy 9-10 cheaper players hoping that 2-3 of them will satisfy and will be a part of a great Juve or to buy 3-4 more expensive players. Later Gigli (?) admitted that there was a choice to make and decided that it's smarter to have 2 players for each position than to risk with injuries.
As it turned out, not even one of the new players satisfied and remained at Juve. That was only 3 years ago.

Now in 2010 we did the same. Even though the circumstances are kinda different, what we did was the same. We lost many players and replaced every single one of them with a new player. In order to bring those 11 new players we spread the money. We chose quantity again.

What you say is that maybe we were forced to do it because we couldn't afford or attract better players, and fewer than 11. I refuse to accept that because looking at our squad, in 3 years again we might be left without a single one, or maybe 1-2 good players from this mercato, which will again mean a new start, a new cycle. New cycles are usually started after 7-8 years when a winning generation gets older. We shouldn't start a new cycle every 2 or 3 years. If we didn't have money then better keep Camo or Seba and not buy Martinez, hoping that next year we will have the money and we won't have a player we don't need for whom we paid 12m eur.

Why wouldn't you accept that? That's a big possibility. And if by quality you mean Camo, well, hmmm :D

We couldn't bring in Dzeko even though he apparently wanted to join us. Juve can attract world class players with or without CL but question is if we can financially afford such deals yet.

it became pretty clear that juventus big job this summer was to rejuvenate the squad, bring down the player wages massively, and qualify for champions league

we dont want your robinho and his wage demands, we are juventus, players come here to be part of history, not because we can offer 10 bucks more then the next leading team.

i'm pleased we managed to do 2/3 and didnt spend 1 euro this summer, considering what we paid for transfer we got back in cutted wages.

about ita juve, if they speak same language, it might be better to create a good atmosphere and understanding

i mean, look at inter BEFORE mancini/mourinho
