I'm sorry but sergio ramos can't defend worth shit. I was perhaps exaggerating, but sergio is more a winger then defender
No need to apologize... ;)

Also, nowhere in my post did I say that Ramos was known for his defensive prowess... in fact, I didn't mention anything about Ramos' defending.

But, for the record, my opinion is that he's better than Motta in that respect as well.

What I did say was that he's WAY better than Motta going forward... and WAY more valuable to his team on the whole, hence, there's really no comparison between the two.

He is also WAY better than Motta defending :D
Hoori, I'd be tempted to wager money on you being WAY better than Motta defending. :D

Anyway, I hope he settles in, and can put in some decent performances for us.

There's no way I want to see Grygera aimlessly stumbling around our penalty area, or blowing several offside traps every game.

I know, that's for sure. I just think we can't financially afford such big names in our team.
If you didn't buy and loan Martinez and Quag respectively, between fees and wages it would have been enough to buy Robinho and pay his wages.

Its the good old quantity over quality thing all over.

What is his transfer's fee? What about his wages?
I think the transfer fee was 18m eur. For Martinez and for loaning Quagliarella we pay 16.5m.
The wages I am not aware of. My guess is that Martinez and Quag together will earn 2/3 of Robinho's wages.
The difference shouldn't be big by any means and Robinho's attractiveness as a player was gonna bring more money to Juve than Martinez and Quag together, I believe.

One still can't look at it like that because there are different factors when you sign a player. CL might have played a reason in signing someone and there are 100 of small details that make a difference.

In any case, for whatever reason, good or not, we went after quantity instead of quality. Now we can only speculate why and choose what to believe.

Well, calling Robinho quality is debatable.
:shifty: the man is definitely quality, he single handedly won Brazil the coppa america few years ago. Plus he saved Real Madrid's ass soo many times in the past when he was playing there.

Had a dip in form with city (personally i think he wasn't even motivated enough to play with them). If Ronaldinho can find his form with Milan (not 100% but still great). Robinho can "easily" can find his form there.....

For some reason I don't think Robinho was ever going to be interested in Juventus anyway.

I do wonder about which good foreign players we could have easily gotten at the same price though.. I know Andy bitches a lot about these players, but I haven't seen him name anyone in particular.

And is he really that good? Proved virtually nothing while playing for Real Madrid and is constantly injured.

Failing at Real doesn't mean much these days. I know he was sick at Hamburg and Ajax. His price was low so it wouldn't have been much of a gamble. He made 58 appearances in 2 seasons at Real, not bad.
