How the Israeli's can continue to do this with no repercussions at all is mind boggling. The UN should be disbanded.
Why? All the UN is capable of is reaching agreements with the good will of its participants. The fact that every single resolution that opposes Israel's colonialism is consistently voted down by two members: Israel and the US tells the whole story. Take those two countries out and you could actually get the UN to condemn these atrocities.

You said it yourself. The UN is designed in such a way that the strongest can harbor their interests without even being condemned for them. USA will always veto anything that's anti-Israel, so the institution becomes super irrelevant. This means that the effectiveness is constrained to weak countries with no real allies, and even the resolutions passed in the UN can be blatantly disregarded by the very countries who signed it.

True. So are we better served by removing it? The UN is a peace initiative, however corrupted and powerless. At least in its founding idea.

When a peace initiative is taken and turned into a tool for excercising power over the small and covering your own back, then yes, we're better off removing it and starting another initiative.

If the Israeli government had any sense, they would not retaliate furthermore, stop building settlements and allow Palestine to become a state.

Unfortunately, that's not the case. Hopefully Netanyahu will lose the elections in January and a sensible government will be elected.
