I'm not moaning. I'm trying to explain why ISIS has appeared initially. Anyway, I still think Irani government is all about words and nothing but words regarding Gaza. They do not do anything on ground. On the contrary, everybody see their horrible acts in Syria. And the people of Gaza do not need tears. because they won't make use of them ever. If there is no physical help, it is not so different from getting no help at all.

exactly my impression. i have yet to see Iran to do something concrete about Palestine. it has been all talks/no deeds until now. unlike Syria where they acted the same second Assad needed them...

I hate how everything is tied to fucking religion in this piece of shit region. Everyone wants to be a victim, and then you have extremist clowns like ISIS who look like they time travelled from the 11th century to get here to make things the worst it's ever been.

More and more I look at it and I just feel myself becoming increasingly distant from any religion. What God could have such suffering?

It is easy to say that, but you have to give answers for all the questions I raised above. Why is the life of a Sunni is nothing compared to the life of a Yezidi for example? Why did not anybody interfere when Homs was being shelled for more than 2 years?

Everything is politics Reb, haven't you realized that yet? I'm not going to comment on individual matters here. I'm just going to reiterate a previous point I made. You have to improve your own position and not wait for someone to do it for you. The reason why all these dictators and people like Bhutto, Nawaz, Benezir, etc. were and are allowed to be in power is because their people allowed it. These people are, unfortunately, a reflection of the people that reside in these places. It's a reflection of the decline of that civilization. Corruption has taken root in that part of the world simply because it finds the conditions suitable. People in that part of the world need to have a deep self-reflection. Yelling "we want peace & justice" and "Allah Akbar" is simply not going to cut it. Simply being Muslim or trying to be "more" Muslim by spreading a "pure" form of Sharia down other peoples throats is not the answer. That's why I say sending rockets over Israel is simply not the way to go. Educate the masses and reform individually in matters of faith and you'll see that God will bring you peace and justice.

There are many bad things about the West but it's also the only place in the world that grants people basic human rights and grants refuge to anyone fleeing from injustice. The same cannot be said about the rest of the world.

Pretty much every single arab friend i got, and pretty much all their friends on facebook, are all against ISIS and beeing very clear about that.

What most people in the West don't know is that these radical groups have killed more and done much more harm to Arabs and Muslims than they've done to the West. There was even a quote about them I read on FB that went "In order to get ISIS to fight with the Gazans against Zionist Occupation, you need to convince them that Israeli's are muslims"

The old timers here know my stance on dictators like Gedaffi, Bashar and the like, but I really do believe groups like ISIS are worst than these dictators, believe me if you read the Libya and Syria threads and see my posts there, that is a big statement coming from me. We have a group with a similar ideology to ISIS in Libya right now, if they gain control of Libya, they'll turn us to a more backward state than we are.

The problem in Iraq, is that Maliki has been so horrible to the Sunni's, he's marginalized them so much that he's pushed the Sunni tribes actually form a coalition with the ISIS, if it weren't for the Iraqi tribes, ISIS would not have made such progress militarily in Iraq IMO. I for one, think that just like in Libya when we allowed those extremists to fight with us in the revolution, the Iraqi's might regret colluding with them.

The report on our national tv channel about the situation was telling a simular thing.

I don't mean ISIS, the reporting on ISIS should be straight forward enough even for the most ridiculous of news outlets. Mean in general impression and fine print of how the West reports ME terrorism. It's natural to be more subjective or extensive in your reporting when they become threat closer to home, but it's been clear and distinctive lack of reporting how much much more of a threat they are to Muslims in their countries. But thats usually to be expected I guess.

They acted in Syria because it serves their geopolitical interests to keep Assad in power and because they could afford to do so without much backlash from the international community. U.S sanctions are still crippling Iran's economy. Any material support for Hamas will surely exacerbate tensions between Iran and the west and while they are morally opposed to the occupation and bombardment of Gaza, they have nothing to gain from protecting it.

An Australian current affairs program aired a good report on ISIS last week.
