All players have at one point in their career cheated in some way big or small but to use "all players cheat" in defense of the hand of god goal is stupid.

In 1986 Maradona as an individual contributed more to winning that world cup than any single player has for any world cup winning team so far, he may have been the greatest football player ever and he did far more for Argentina than just that one ugly incident, but without that goal Argentina might not have beaten England and to win a world cup you have to make it to the final. I do not dislike Maradona but that goal is a horrible blight in football history and it disgusts me. Not that there aren't other equally shameless yet less famous acts, but "other people do it too" is not an excuse. For as remarkably good as Maradona he was equally as shameless

it only disgusts english fans because it's a nice diversion from a worse blight: being on the wrong end of only the greatest goal ever scored which happens to be his second in that game. And he was/is the greatest to ever play the game. up yours pele/fifa

I don't care who it is and what he's done, hell, he could be Adolf Hitler for all I care, but nothing is better than seeing the English on their knees sucking it up.

What a fucking game that was last night.

The best finish I've seen to an internation match this side of Zidane scoring twice in stoppage time to beat England in Euro 2004.

And Maradona will always be a hero in Scotland. Only the bitter English refuse to recognise his footballing genius.

i sat in my Gran's house watching that game and was in awe after seeing that goal. in fact it left such an impression on me i went straight outside and found lots of other kids suddenly wanting to be Maradonna, skinning everyone and generally trying to be the man

however i slid on some glass and cut my back wide open and still have the scar to this day, funnily enough from then i found more love for the defensive side of the game

the same crap team that hands the US the same free pass every 4 years, then maybe its concacaf we need to re-evaluate, maybe they should just play with south america
That's true because the US get a play off against New Guinea if they don't finish in the top 3.

Northern Ireland can still qualify for the World Cup. But to do so, they need to win against the Czech Republic in Prague and hope San Marino triumph against Slovenia, turning around a seven-goal deficit in the process. Unfortunately, that is the same San Marino ranked 203rd by Fifa whose all-time World Cup qualifying record reads:
Played 45 Won 0 Drawn 2 Lost 43 Scored 8 Conceded 202
