Yea, but even if they lose they get that play off safety net and a second chance with a game against some crap team that basically hands them a free pass into the WC even if they finish in 5th place out of 10 teams, I really hate the South American qualifying system, the 5th place team should just get knocked out or at least a harder game, say the worst second place finisher from Europe. But I prefer the former

It's CONCACAF that has too many spots imo, compared to the quality of the teams there (Asia too). In theory both Concacaf and South America can have 4 teams at the World Cup, while in reality the difference is huge between the South American and the Concacaf teams.

Yes but they can't take away spots from Continents that have a large # of more countries, the world cup is supposed to have a somewhat fair representation of continents football powers and even though the quality of play is lower in Concacaf and Asia a larger group of countries should get more spots for a more accurate "world cup". It is inaccurate how a continent with far fewer countries such as South America is able to get more teams in the competition than Asia and as many as Africa. Concacaf should not lose a spot because of the play offs we will only get three teams into this WC while South America will have five
