Poor game technically. Argentina under Maradona are torture to watch.

Btw, Ecuador missed a golden opportunity in the 45th minute by Edison Mendez.

He was brilliant at the u-20 world cup two years ago when Argentina (led by Aguero) won the world cup. But it was impossible to say if he'll develop well.
Looks like he's doing exactly that and he's been developing very well.
I've only seen him a handful of times with Benfica. Didn't realize he already has 51 appearances with them.

Samuel is Argentina's best defender. How Demechilies and Heinze get games ahead of him is simply beyond me.

Btw, even though Di Maria has probably been Argentina's only spark upfront, he's just been too selfish for my liking, his decision making is questionable too, he just never knows when to release the ball.

That could all be ironed out with experience of course, he is a very talented player and he's still young. But right now, i don't think he is the finished article.

Are you serious?? Maradona is playing this game exactly like it needs to be played which is pretty surprising

Even though i agree with Maradona's cautious approach to the game, the team just doesn't seem to be gelling. I can understand the defensive mentality, but the team just cannot string 3 passes together, they don't really seem well organised when going forward, whoever gets the ball just keeps on running aimlessly with it till he loses it, because nobody really knows where his teammate is.

I might actually turn more on the Ecuador - Chile game in the second half. At least there i can enjoy Jorge Valdivia and Humberto Suazo
