It's kind of a shame, then, that Everton is one of my favorite teams in the Premiership -- if not my very favorite.

:disagree: While the Premier League had M United against a bunch of headless chickens, Serie A had the best players in the world at the time. And a lot of them were Italian. Your league relies heavily on foreign money and quality. If you were to lose any of the two, you'd not even make it to the top 5 leagues of Europe. I can't for the life of me understand how you can be proud of your league when it clearly isn't yours anymore, your identity's lost.

We're hardly the beneficieries of the money and hype flowing through the Premier League mate, so chill. Hope it's a good game :)
Exactly. One of the reasons I like Everton, besides some class players and not the usual douchebag rotation of Manchowder United, Arsenal, Chelsea, etc.

I'm not entirely sure what you're saying mate, but I agree with you if you mean we'd be better off without mercenary players, and developing our youth better, without them having over-hyped wasters (aka England team) as role models.
Do Juve pass your criteria btw ?

Yes, we have all the greasiest italians.

Though thankfully Montolivo, when combined with our past with Luca Toni, would have put us over the greaseball cap that Italian football law allows for any one given club. We dodged a bullet when that one went to AC Milan.

Yea, the media/sponsors over here promote those that they've invested heavily in - i'm sure it's Europe-wide (and maybe fifa), unfortunately.

I'm saying what you already know. If your league was to get rid of all the foreigners (or say most of them), you'd go back to those days when it was painful to watch an English match. While i agree you should focus on developing your own, if you were to do it, there just wouldn't have the quality necessary to still be on the top. So it's either sell your soul, like you did, or back to the dark ages. It's a no-win situation but doing the latter, at least you'd have some honor and dignity. Things you lost when your identity went down the drain.

Yes it does. Last season we used to have 7 Italians in the starting team. The country is just too patriot to lose it's identity. Italy might not produce as many quality players as Brazil and Argentina (seeing as they're the biggest exporters in the world) but there's always talent. Always. Serie A would perfectly survive if all foreigners were to go. Can't say the same about your league.

So did Everton mate (albeit British), so let's be careful not to over-generalise. It's not as bad as you suspect imo, whilst very poor, it's mainly our 18-21year olds that we don't invest in sufficiently, and our fans see Martinez as the influence we need to improve our technique on the first team, and from our 'European Elite Academy' up.
