Catholics are christians who consider themselves to be under control of the Pope in Rome. So in theory every catholic is the same when we're talking about beliefs. Like Shadowfax proved, Andy's not a catholic.

Shadowfax didn't prove anything. No-one os perfect, that's all. Catholics DO sin obviously, and being Catholic doesn't mean being perfect. Catholicism is a system of beliefs based on the basic tenet that we as humans are IMPERFECT, and therefore one of the most important facets of Catholicism is the effort to be as good as we can be, in the knowledge that salvation is in the understanding and repenting of our sins, not perfection, as perfection is impossible for humans

Shadowfax didn't say that Catholics are perfect, or should be. He merely pointed out that Rochemback doesn't follow the word of the Pope, which means that he can not be viewed as a Roman-Catholic. Rochembeck is, from what I can derive, christian, since he believes/has faith in God, Jezus and the bible.

One cannot be Catholic but not follow the word of the Pope and the Vatican.

Everyone keeps saying how they feel personaly about others, but what does your religions say about it? For instance, Andy and Fabi, I understand your views on things, but that doesn't mean anything, what matters is what your religion teaches. What the bible says, and how you interpret that is what it comes down to. So what does the bible have to say about homosexuality for instance? Do you have any knowledge about this?

Thats why instead of being a strict Catholic Im agnostic and judge things for myself. I dont think the Bible (capital B) says anything about homosexuality (correct me if Im wrong) and most of the views on subjects like these are the Church's views and not actually the Bible's views. I guess its up to you wether to accept it or not.
I consider myself somehow Christian because I dont think that the Church will have any effect on me going to Heaven or not. Id rather read what the Bible says and what the Church/Priest says and interpret it for myself.
Im not very hardcore religious though. I graduated from a Catholic school, but besides from praying every night I cant say Im very practicant

You're NOT a catholic, Andy, simply because a catholic is someone who obeys the pope. I can't help it, but that's the definiton. You may be a christian, but you're NOT a catholic. Oh and reacting as if saying you're not a catholic is a judgement is judging on itself.

Jesus wanted an institution here on Earth to represent him and where people could pray to God and his word would be read and analyzed, sadly over centuries of years the Church has become more corrupt and it has become what some people in power (Pope etc) wanted it to be.
I dont think that because I dont agree with the Pope Im not a Catholic... The Pope isnt forcing me to "obey" him
I wonder what Jesus thinks about the current Church

I was referring to a post from the first page or two where the implication was that some of Andy's actions/beliefs made if not-Catholic, IIRC it was before the discussion on how not following the Pope kept him from being Catholic

How can you judge what Jesus wanted? certainly the church was very corrupt during the middle ages for example, but remember the church is shaped by people that spend their lives dedicated to what Jesus wanted...you may disagree, but the church has been trying to follow Christ for 2000 years now-they know something
