So just because I don't agree with everything the Pope says...I'm not Catholic. Just because I am subject to natural sin like everybody else in this world...I'm not only not a catholic but also a supposed hypocrite.

And I'm sure posters such as Paul and Seven are the right people to judge who everybody is on this forum without having the slightest clue what sort of lives people live.

I'm struggling for a metaphor here.....

OK, sex.

Before you ever had sex, you went through several phases:

1. Oooooooh girls, yuck

2. You want me to put it where?

3. OK, I'll give it a try (I would argue, after marriage--but that's another discussion)...

and it is awesome. Incredible, in fact, Those "in the know" all smile at you knowingly...

Those who aren't in the know---who are agnostic, or even atheistic  about sex, if you will...can't understand what all the hullabaloo is about....

surely those "In the Know-stians" are just making it up. It can't be that good. I bet it doesn't even exist.

Oddly, the "In the Know-stians" are the ones walking around with smiles on their faces, though. ;)
I know what you're trying to say. I don't agree with the metaphor, but that's not important. However, the great feeling you know still doesn't mean there is a greater good. All it means is that you feel great if you think there is one.

Dude, sex is awesome, you know it, and I know it.

I just love to have illegitimate children from multiple sex partners running around.

The idea is that Catholicism (and Catholics and their beliefs as a result) are (or correspond with) what the Vatican (the essence of Catholicism) believes. A person who doesn't share those believes can, hence, not be a Catholic.

A Christian, undoubtedly, but not a Catholic.

    1. I like you and consider you a good guy.

    2. I am in NO WAY judging you, OK?

    3. If it's worth living, it's worth living to the full. Cafeteria Catholicism doesn't work. Trust me.

its the same with all religions its a matter of faith
and in all religions there are people who dont follow what their leader says and still class themselves as followers

Andy, stop insulting every other religion except catholicism. You're still thinking I judged you by saying you weren't catholic and that thought on itself cannot be accepted. It means you identify everyone who's not catholic as wrong and inferior.

All those things i noted are things you have expressed on this forum...

As such if you do not follow the wishes of the pope as you have admitted... you are not a catholic... You may well be a christian, but youy are not a catholic... It is one thing to sin on occasion but to disregard the fundamental way of life the catholic faith asks of you... Means you are not one
Again, the Pope is not why people call themselves Catholics.

As a "former" Catholic, I never knew that. It would also imply very sharply that my local church here was "violating" those principles.
