I always thought you were from Holland living in Canada. So you're American living in Canada? And you also spent time in Europe?
I am American/Canadian living in Canada, but lived in England for six years, Belgium for three and France for one.

dont go anywhere else but canada or US
Why? This place is just not the same anymore. My generation is fucked in the ass right now and they don't even have the courtesy of using lube.

I don't disagree with you but your statement is pretty bold imo.

it is of course a matter of opinion, North America offers the best opportunities, best access to education, least racism(if you stick to big cities) and easiest integration out of all other first world destinations. Even at this here economic condition, unemployment numbers are still below european standards, you can go to school at any age and do whatever you want, i almost never hear of overt racism around here- unless you're looking for 'trouble', and NA is made up almost entirely of immigrants anyway. Everything equal, it really is an easy choice imo.

Well in general it is easier to integrate here but if you stick to major cities in Europe it's just as easy. For someone who moves their at our age it's especially easy. It's mostly the 'ghettos' where all asylum seeking refugees get stuffed into where there are problems.

Getting a job here as an immigrant is easier but people take for granted the amount of help you receive in European countries in letting you settle in. If someone was to move there they could focus on completing their education in an easier and timely fashion whereas here, you'll get stuck flipping burgers at McDonalds unless you're rich already or have someone to support your transition. How many cabbies are there in NYC that have engineering & medical degrees? Tons and it's because they couldn't afford to drop the ball and go complete their education/take the equivalency tests.

i havent been to australia, but i doubt it offers as much as the US/Canada. As for the cheaper bit, it's all relative, wage/area/living standard...
Our unemployment rate is 5.2% (including those unable to work), Melbourne was recently voted the worlds most liveable city, we have great education and there is plenty of work.

this has always been a place for people who want to work hard, whether immigrant or native, just ask someone like Aaron. I truly believe, from experience and observation, that success, especially academically, is available to anyone willing to work hard enough for it. I have plenty of friends who have worked and gone to school full time, who are neither rich nor sponsored. You can still go to school for around 10 Gs and the govt pays some of it and you can get loans(which in the long run turn out to be cheaper than european tax rates). And no way in hell are european city as welcoming as american ones, americans celebrate and like diversity. europeans are suspicious and wary of it, i d describe it as an american naivety because they are so remote from the old world, the proof the only immigrants that are 'feeling' it in the US so to speak are mexicans.
And finally to the doctor whos driving a cabbie, 2 possibilities, either he cant cut it here or hes content driving his cab(which reinforces that this is a good place to be). Hard work still pays off here, expecting handouts not so much.
