So what are you really arguing about? If all what you know about Ale or lived throughout his career isn't much? That's like 4years minus Serie B.
If you're arguing the concepts of player status against club then each to his own, if you're arguing our bashing to the board then that's something else you probably wont understand unless you grew up loving Ale.

How does it differ from the "old Juve" that you supported?
I'd guess that the old Juve you know is that of the mid 90's until Calciopoli. I know that same Juve and I know that Moggi was getting rid of players the moment they weren't useful on the pitch anymore, the moment he could get good money out of them and the moment they did something he didn't like.
Only in rare cases players stayed with the team until retirement (Conte and Ferrara) which basically happened with Nedved too under the "new Juve".
On the other hand Tacchinardi and Davids were kicked out of the club. Di Livio was literally kicked out and sold to Fiorentina against his will. He said "Juve dumped me, didn't I deserve more respect than that? (http://ricerca.gelocal.it/iltirreno/archivio/iltirreno/1999/12/17/LS101.html). Zidane and Inzaghi were sold for big money (you say now it's all about money, as if it wasn't before). Baggio too. Where did the CL winners Vialli, Ravanelli and co. disappear? Why didn't Iuliano get a new contract but he was tagged as useless and left to leave after his contract expired? Why did we send Peruzzi to Inter? I have a dozen more examples to prove that it's not different than it used to be.

None of the names above were legends like Ale. Only great players we loved to watch.

You would know how bad Agnelli handled the situation when even Moggi criticizes him for that.
And Del Piero is not comparable to any of those players mentioned. We are not going to make money from selling him to other clubs either. There is no harm for the team in offering Alex new contracts. It's actually what Juve need to do because it's the right thing to do.

AA handled the situation poorly and still has time to fix that mistake with the rushed statement, but that's only down to inexperience. Moggi would have done the same imo but he would have done it in a much better way. In both cases DP would have been gone, the difference being that under Moggi it would have happened earlier. I have in mind mostly the 2005/06 season and how Moggi allowed Capello to handle the players the way he wants to, without paying much or any respect to Del Piero.

It's all okay to me if he declines a new contract offer. If Juve were willing to offer him new contracts however, talks over his last one wouldn't have been prolonged like that, Agnelli wouldn't have announced his retirement at the end of the season and Alex' himself wouldn't have sounded bitter about the announcement.

I disagree. Moggi gave Capello the freedom to handle players and select them the way he wants because that has always been the case with Juve unlike what Berlusca does at Milan. But Agnelli the father and Moggi always had Del Piero as a red line that no one should cross. He was untouchable. Add to that Capello really needed him as a bench player, no bench player was as good as Ale in 05-06.
Moggi in one of his interviews few months ago said that Del Piero should decide whenever to leave and that he's an icon you can't let him go if he isn't the one who wants to go.

That way Del Piero himself was gonna look for other options and Moggi would have made it happen. He wasn't gonna do everything to stop the legend Del Piero from leaving. He was simply gonna sell him.
