Del Piero Still Hopeful About Euro 2008 Place

Alessandro Del Piero is still hoping that he will go to Euro 2008 despite again being snubbed by Italy national team boss Roberto Donadoni.

Del Piero has been in superb form for Juventus in recent months, and this was proved conclusively on Saturday night when he put in a man-of-the-match performance against Inter.

However Donadoni again left him out of his 21-man squad for the friendly against Spain on Wednesday night. Del Piero has now not been called up for the Azzurri since the Euro 2008 qualifiers with France and Ukraine over six months ago.

“There is still Euro 2012," The Golden Boy joked about his omission.

"But of course I hope at the end of the season I will be there." Del Piero has an ally in Juve coach Claudio Ranieri, who cannot understand the reasoning behind his absence.

"He's playing extremely well in the Championship, appreciated by almost all coaches,” noted The Tinkerman.

"I do not know the intentions of Donadoni, perhaps he will only select him for the Euros"
