Lippi: “Del Piero, symbol of Italian football”

“Del Piero is one of the few icons left in Italian football”. Speaking about the Bianconeri captain was Marcello Lippi, in town for the launch of the Salvatore Lo Presti football annual. “Alex is a fine example of professionalism – continued the World Cup winning coach – as he showed this summer, when, right in the thick of the ‘Calciopoli’ scandal, he pledged his allegiance to Juventus without hesitation. He’s a symbol of not only this club, but also of Italian football as a whole”. And on what is to be the captain’s 500th appearance for the club this Saturday. “I don’t know whether that’s a record, but I know the 200 plus goals he’s scored for Juventus certainly are. More than anything else, these records bear witness to just how much he’s done for his team and just how great a champion Alex is, both from a footballing and a human perspective”.

Symbol of Italian football: Maldini, Del Piero, Totti. These 3 are simply the sumbol of Italian football. They'll be missed once they all retire.

2-focus on your team

3-like snoop would say, Forza Del Piero.

Cesena slam 'arrogant’ Del Boy

Cesena President Giorgio Lugaresi has criticised Juventus skipper Alex Del Piero’s attitude during Tuesday’s Serie B clash.

The Old Lady won the tie 2-1, which was originally scheduled for December but was postponed after the tragic accident involving two Bianconeri youth team players.

However, the match ended in a tense atmosphere after the visitors were disallowed a goal just seconds before the final whistle.

“I am tired – now I feel that I must speak up. What happened in Turin was incredible,” said Lugaresi. “I feel that my club deserves to be respected, I cannot remain silent any longer.

“What I saw on Tuesday was utter nonsense. After Jonathan Zebina was sent-off it seemed that Del Piero took the referee’s place – he was the one who gave orders on the pitch.

“Why was he allowed to reprimand the assistant referees? If one of my men had behaved that way I am sure they would have asked the policemen to send him away.”

Lugaresi was disappointed with the world champion’s behaviour, which he did not consider sportsmanlike.

“I don’t like this Del Piero, he was arrogant and this does not correspond to the image we all have of him. If he is nervous because he is playing in Serie B that is not our fault.

“If you want to win, you must do so because you deserve it on the pitch, not because you raise your voice and scream,” concluded the official.

Juventus return to action this weekend with another home clash against Bari, while Cesena travel to Verona.

Its very amusing to read about this. Del Piero was angry at the ref because he game him a yellow card "for acting/tricking the ref" where what actually happenned was Del Piero showing Cesena's president how he was much better than his players by dribbling past three and the third used his BIG ASS to knock alex down. This scene happenned infront of the assestant ref. Do you Alex to be quiet? Alex got knocked few times without the ref sweating on it.
THe presendet is just pissed of because Del Piero managed to play with six of his players in the same time atleast 3-4 times in that game, let alone what he did to each individual alone.
Jealousy is a bitch.

lol Funny thing is after the game Del Piero himself said smth like: "Today as a captain I had a lot of talking with the refs, so I hope in the future they do the job properly, so I can save my breath for running"

:D
