Del piero was in the game until the red card........... after that it was just too difficult for a player of his characterictics to do something.
The otti-DP swap was incredibly needed, as totti can go on midfiled and create while DP is better upfront, and in that moment Italy simply didnt had possesion in the mid.

gilla isnt doing much of anything.....iaquinta didnt look that great either. i was surprised he didnt bring on pippo at half instead of iaquinta. I think he needs to go with del up front and get some of the pressure off of totti to control less of the ball. Del piero can bring the ball up and start attacks all well as anyone.

it was disappointing and very frustrating in the second half the way things developed. Of course if that first cross to Toni went in with the easy header everything would have been different and the game would have been more loose. A shame.

when you think about it that's exactly what worked vs Germany and Holland in the friendlies. They weren't great performances but there were good assists and great conversion in these few chances that were exactly like this match. If Toni and Gila were more accurate, the whole match would have been over in 20 minutes and it wouldn't have looked so awful (for Del Piero too for later) . These misses weren't in the gameplan.
