DP has been involved in pretty much everything that ended with Toni miss in the the first half. Good passes.

Unfortunatelly playing LMF he couldn't get into the game more.

I cant say that DP had a god performance, he did pass the ball well a couple of times, but... if we talk been partial, he had a barely regular match.
he did what he can.
we can see that Italy has a weaker mid than Juve, u cant expect him to have as many chance as in Juve when the team's possetion lower than 40% but in Juve's games thats higher than 60%

TBH, he did much more than the likes of Toni or Gila...These two can't finish, and It's obvious. That said he didn't recieve lot of balls unlike the others, but I'm happy with his 1st half performance.

I have slaid it before, and i'll say it again, del piero need to play as a striker, totti behind de and either toni or inzaghi

Del piero was in the game until the red card........... after that it was just too difficult for a player of his characterictics to do something.

The otti-DP swap was incredibly needed, as totti can go on midfiled and create while DP is better upfront, and in that moment Italy simply didnt had possesion in the mid.

gilla isnt doing much of anything.....iaquinta didnt look that great either. i was surprised he didnt bring on pippo at half instead of iaquinta. I think he needs to go with del up front and get some of the pressure off of totti to control less of the ball. Del piero can bring the ball up and start attacks all well as anyone.

I would like to see a lone striker, aided by DP and Totti.....Possibly Toni because he is strong,,and if he does nothing good we can bring Inzaghi or Gila, as both can score too.

Del Piero had a good 1st half...Can't blame him for the 2nd though.

As Seven said, Hopefully It's gonna be Totti-Dp upfront.
Yeah I agree... :agree:

I was expecting much more though... :( it was disappointing and very frustrating in the second half the way things developed. Of course if that first cross to Toni went in with the easy header everything would have been different and the game would have been more loose. A shame.

btw, I put tommy boy in ignore, how can one stand that disgusting picture and everything, wrong thread for him. He should be kicked out and I advise you all to do the same :)

This is a very good point !! . Juve always have possesion while Italy playes in counterattacks. I think this is very frustrating for Lippi who wants to imitate the setup of Juve yet he doesn't have the same quality in midfield (guys like Davids, Dechamps etc).

He did give two crosses that should have been goals though..
when you think about it that's exactly what worked vs Germany and Holland in the friendlies. They weren't great performances but there were good assists and great conversion in these few chances that were exactly like this match. If Toni and Gila were more accurate, the whole match would have been over in 20 minutes and it wouldn't have looked so awful (for Del Piero too :( for later) . These misses weren't in the gameplan.

:howler: your going to far with that statement. remember who was the topscorer in serie a. ;)

And i think he had a good game, he was unlucky not to score. come on, you saw that chanse when australia gk just got his foot there. He moved around a lot and he kept the ball well. i wasnt impressed with gila though.

whats your problem if i may ask. when dp couldnt score against usa, had two chanses, saved by gk he was still good. now when toni was lively and was just unlucky to score, his already bad and dp was much better.

???
