1. You're really not going to convince me he was the best player last season. Because he wasn't imo.

2. Review your facts. Bought him for 24,5 (to be paid over 3 years), sold him for 15,5 (to be paid at once). It's not a 10 million loss, still a bad piece of business obviously

3. I see. My personal perception < your personal perception. You may have liked him as a SS, I did not. Simple as that.

Look man, I don't even know why I keep replying. Alen asked for possible reasons, I gave them. Whether you or Alen or I or Numbnuts from the Drughi agree with them doesn't really matter. But there's no denying that they are indeed possible reasons.

And seeing how difficult is appears to be (for some) to actually read what's being posted, I'm done with this.
1. Then we'll agree to disagree. Still, even if he wasn't the absolute best player last season, he was one of the bright spots in a dark season, I hope we can agree on that.

2. Ok, we didn't lose 10 million, we lost 9, big difference. Those 24.5 get paid still, just because they are in 3 year installments doesn't mean that they go away, so we lost 9 million and a really good player for nothing.

3. No, I'm not saying my personal perception is better, I'm saying Del Neri's personal perception is better than you and mine's because he's the fucking coach and Marotta didn't give a crap Del neri wanted to keep him.

How many clean score sheets did we have last year for Buffon to be the best? How many points did he earn for us by keeping away goals last year? Not many.

Chiellini had a lot of passion last year, but not having an adequate companion made him lose his cool, gradually lost form and was defending like shit during the last third of the season because he insisted on bombing forward.
Why do you judge goalkeepers based on clean sheets?

I completely disagree with you about Chiellini, there's absolutely no way he defended like shit at any point last season. Even when he bombed forward he returned back to defense and stopped the service into the penalty area.

This guy is actually disputing that Chiellini was our best player last season? :howler: He was worthless enough with all his Del Piero posts, but I figured its just extreme biasm and not because he is generally utterly clueless.

Not only on clean sheets but also on how many of his saves gave us points. Buffon certainly wasn't himself last season, I'm not saying he's crap, at all, but he wasn't on form and spent far too long injured.

I love Chiellini, he's my favourite central defender, but I remember him getting annoyed and frustrated and leaving the central defense to bomb forward far too often during the last third of last season. Not his fault, he has heart and couldn't cope with the mediocrity of last season, but that's why I don't think he was our best player at all.

Why exactly does it matter who was the best of a bad bunch?
It all sprung from people disagreeing with the notion that Diego was our best player last season and felt it was ok to sell him because of that. I agree, it doesn't matter when we had such a shit season (I hope that's allowed to say, the worst season in 30 years I hope is ok to be labelled shit), but selling our best players solely because they weren't Messi was a bad move by Marotta.

And you think that Diego was better than Chiellini?

And looking back, I don't particularly agree with you referring to Del Piero as an "old bastard".

Because Diego clearly wasn't the best. People are making him out to be some immortal figure who would have carried the entire team on his back based off last season.

When considering only the midfield and attack, I think Diego was one of the better players.

Don't worry, I won't call Del Piero anything other than super fantastic from now on, I'll be banned otherwise. He's old, barely contributes to the team, gets overpowered on the ball, can't counter attack but yet insists on playing every single match. He's mister fantastic.

Don't exaggerate, no one can do that, not even Pele. He did give us an extra dimension in attack that is gone now with no proper replacement and let go for a laughable sum with players like Quaglalala coming as replacement and that's why so many of us are pissed.
