Usually I would never lose faith in a manager so early but he fucked up so bad with that starting lineup that it's almost unbelievable.

Haven't seen such a major fuck up in a long time.
Yup....

I mean, we have been fucked in preseason before..... but this defeat today is super weird and inexcusable from his part in terms of line up and approach.

Theres something eerie and doomed about this

Completely lost the plot in preparation for this humiliation, his post game comments reflects it even more from the way he’s deflecting from answering why he chose to start such a weak first XI in the most important game… although he did take the responsibility on himself, it’s too little too late and we will now go into the next round with a self inflicted lack of confidence and zero positive momentum.

I have to admit: I didn't expect the CWC to be this entertaining.

I mean, I haven't seen a single second of it, but I am enjoying how people are getting worked up because of meaningless post-season friendlies. Games where we (have to) field players who aren't supposed to be here 2 months from now.

Just look at the end of the last picture, teams that did not even qualify from the CWC group stages still got paid close to what you usually get from qualifying to the UCL group stages in comparison.

We basically already won as much money from beating Al Ain and Al Wydad and qualifying to the next round than what we’d get from playing 8 UCL group stage games that we’d also need to qualify from.

And most revenues there are at the minimum just for participating or advancing meaning there’s lots of other incentives such as if we win more games and attract larger audiences, along with multiple marketing opportunities that could generate us even more revenue.

I love how people got excited over this guy and actually expected something from him hahaha he literally got fired managing a club in the Croatian league, didn't achieve anything of note in the past, and people expect him to go head to head with Guardiola, Enrique, and the likes, riiiight...

I'm willing to bet that we have one more painful season coming up, and that he's getting fired mid-season no matter what we do during the transfer window. And no, this is not a meltdown, just an observation

I think you're confusing me with someone who cares about prize money for a friendly tournament.
I think you are confusing the difference between a friendly pre season tournament that not only pays considerably less but also doesn’t have even half of the visibility and media coverage compared to an actual official FIFA tournament that is being watched for free on the whole globe(marketing opportunity for teams too) and already pays better for lesser games against easier opponents than what our usual financial lifeline which is the UCL has to offer.

Just wanted to point out why your assumption of it being a summer friendly is not accurate, other than that to each their own i guess.

Well, both views have some truth to it. Barely anyone is watching these glorified friendly games and money probably was the only way fifa could persuade teams to participate in this shitshow.

Not sure what your argument is here… ofc nobody is watching the Alwydad vs Mameloni Sundowns or Juve vs AlAin type of games but make no mistake that there were huge audiences for games such as Juve vs Man City last night, and the interest and audiences will only increase from the knockout phase onwards, but then again my point is regarding the prize money and why teams are generally taking it serious.

I don't really care about that tournament, but the way he threw that game away by fielding a bullshit starting eleven was simply infuriating. You saw the lineup and you knew what was about to happen.

Winning was our chance to get better draws, so he pissed away money as well.
We didn't even need to win to get that 1st place which makes it even more annoying. A draw yesterday would have sent us to the left side of the bracket. It's insane that we voluntarily chose to bend over for them.

All people I know are either watching or reading about it. We could easily earn 20 more millions and sign 2 cb from this money.

It’s always „only copa Italia“ „only Serie A“ „only cl qualification round“ „only cwc friendly“

After the season we had - crashing out to empoli , psv and reaching the cl thanks to a pk to relagated Venezia - there was a chance to atleast make up for it….
