Even in this reserve version we were very much still in it before Kalulu’s comedic own goal and Dusan’s embarassing misses while the game was still tight… on the CB’s he didn’t have much of a choice and City running riots around them was to be expected, but he does take all the blame because we could have asked much more of their backline too but instead chose to experiment around and rest key attacking players and now not only lost all the positive momentum but also secured our exit in the next round.

2-5 loss is actually flaterring. We could have conceded 8-9 goals. It was a shameful display, unworthy of this once great club. No matter the opposition, we should never look as inferior as we did last night.

That's one of the most annoying things.

We could have come out of this tournament with a bit of momentum and a feel good factor to carry us into the new season.

But that line-up today has put a stop to it. We might not have beaten City today but we'd have done better than we have. Now we've been embarrassed and the positivity gone.

Man City come into this game with only 1 DM Rodri in starting lineup and they put 5 Attacking minded midfield : Doku - Silva - Reijnders - Savinho and Marmoush. Ait Nouri as attacking LB, Nunes as converted CM become permanent RB.

We put defensive oriented players in midfield McKennie - Loca, Costa - Kostic as wingback and even Koop as AM/RW. With this line up we lack of ball carrier, a player who can dribble (Yildiz, Chico, Mbangula) or player with pace (Weah). It's kind of Italian football team, we must learn to City, Bayern, Real Madrid, PSG to build a team with certain profile. Dont afraid to use technical CM Douglas in the middle like Joao Neves / Vitinha in PSG. It seems that it will compromise their defense but with the ball in our possession or their passing accuracy or range, some opponents will need to rethink their attacking approach

I don't think he's playing any 4d chess game here fielding weak lineups so that the management bring some real reinforcements. At this point, he's just happy to have this job in the first place. It was just a cowardly move in general and doesn't bode well for the upcoming season.

Yeah, maybe we should give him the benefit of the doubt. Summer is hot, McKennie is fat, and players needed a rest. At the end of the day, we were through and on a normal day City would beat us anyway. We live to fight another day.

Too bad he didn’t look at the potential next round matchup. Why try to beat City when we can go all in on Real. 4D chess.
