Balotelli issued driving fine
Thursday 14 January, 2010
Inter striker Mario Balotelli has been fined €38 for repeatedly honking his horn on Milan's Corso Buenos Aires, according to Il Giorno.
The incident occurred at 1:30am as Balotelli tried to get the attention of his friend who lives in a flat along the street.
Disgruntled neighbours soon called the police and Super Mario had to plead with the attending officers.
“I had to say something to my friend,” Balotelli is quoted as saying. “Are you going to fine him, as well?”
Undeterred by Balotelli's status, Il Giorno reports that, with 'a great deal of distance', the officers wrote the 19-year-old a ticket and told him to go home.
This isn't the first time Balotelli's driving habits have been called into question.
Inter boss Jose Mourinho used him as an example of a new generation of young footballers who think first about buying a Ferrari and playing football second.
The matter is especially close to Mourinho's heart after he lost a player to a road traffic accident while at Porto.
