So basically, this has turned into another dream-team thread, rather than realistic options. Get on topic people.

Indeed :D

I think we need change. Especially for the old soldiers - I think we should dispose them (not in a bad way). Doesn't mean that I love them any less or anything, I still do, but the time has come where I think they have had too much success and has lost cause for motivation. Get young bloods who are eager to fight for their life for a trophy.

Rothen as left back??? Sorry mate, that just wouldnt work, I dont see any defensive qualities in him, he's a classic winger, good crosser, solid dribbler, but he's no defender.

There is no way Inter would sell us Zanetti, plus he's already over 30 so he wouldnt be a long term prospect, which is what we need.

I would put the formation like this:
    Code:
            Buffon

     Zambi Lucio Mexes Evra

    Giuly Maresca Rothen

            Rosicky

       Trezeguet Drogba
Never underestimate the stupidity of Inter and Rothen can play at left back , not for his defensive qualities but for his attacking prowess and I am sure he can cope with a bit of defensive duties if told to do so as Zambrotta and Carlos are hardly known for their defensive duties

I do not care how old Zanetti is as that guy has at least 5 years of solid play in him, he is just phenomenon.

I just want a squad of players who would not get in eachother's way, would be able to matchup to Madrid, Arsenal or Milan , quality wise and be also be motivated enough to play against Lecce in Lecce and beat them.

Looking at your team , Zambrotta is hopeless at right back, Drogba and Trez would never work, not very sure about your midfield trio and having Giully and Rosicky is again like wearing braces and a belt.

I am a fan of Lucio's but he would definitely need a strong hard man next to him when he does foray forward or when he makes his silly mistakes and he and Mexes might be too skilful to work as a pairing at at the back.

But perhaps the most damning of your team is not too many of those with any serieA experience and we all know Italians are not known for their patience

    But hey its your dream

Yeah but in ur team u have J.Zanetti that his also not known for his defensive duties and Rothen could not play as a left back since he doesn't have the speed to get back unlike Zambro and R.Carlos...

U don't need a super team to beat Madrid,Arsenal or Milan it has been proven in Champions League. U just need a good coach that knows what is he doing and a solid 11 players that know what to do when they have the ball...no need of 11 superstars...

This I would do If I was Moggi and operating by the market news.

    ........................................Buffon.................................................

    Thuram................Lucio.................Ferrari....................Zambro....

    Camo...................Maresca.............Perrotta.....................Kapo....

    ............................Gilardino.............Mutu....................................

    Coach: Del Neri

    Subs:

    Chimenti
    Birindelli
    Ferrara
    Legro
    Pessotto
    Brighi
    Blasi
    Appiah
    Chiumento
    Gasbarroni
    Miccoli
    Caracciolo

In order to have this team I would get rid of:

    DP (money and Mutu)
    Trezeguet (money and maybe Gabri)
    Nedved (money)
    Iuliano (money)
    Tacchinardi (money)
    DV (on loan)
    Tudor (on loan)

Let's not exaggerate a tragedy out of this squad.

Looking at the way Deportivo plays as a TEAM, the suggestion is totally thrown out of the window. Are they that much superior in terms of player quality? Don't think so. Can't dispute an addition here and there but its about getting the best out of the squad more than anything.

Btw, while Lippi can be faulted for his tactics, it should be noted that he ISN'T the one totally responsible for the actual football coaching. Since the latter's our main complaint, doesn't make sense to heap everything on Lippi.
