Can Giuly play on the right wing? I thought that he was a trequartista/support striker :undecide:

Anyways, I'd bring Deschamps and a few of his Monaco starlets over to give the side a new, younger, fresher look. Squillaci, Evra and Rothen would make the move along with coach Deschamps, and fellow Ligue 1 compatriot Philippe Mexes would also join. As would Matteo Ferrari. Thuram would be shown the exit and replaced by Trabelsi, while Trezeguet would be sacrificed for cash in order to pay for the players mentioned above and either Alberto Gilardino or Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The defence:

out - Ciro Ferrara, Lilian Thuram, Paolo Montero, Mark Iuliano, Gianluca Pessotto

in - Matteo Ferrari, Hatem Trabelsi, Philippe Mexes, Sebastien Squillaci, Patrice Evra

The midfield:

out - Edgar Davids, Antonio Conte, Ruben Olivera (loan)

in - Manuele Blasi/Matteo Brighi, Jerome Rothen

The attack:

out - David Trezeguet

in - Alberto Gilardino/Zlatan Ibrahimovic

THE TEAM:

GK - Buffon
RB - Trabelsi
CB - Mexes
CB - Ferrari or Squillaci
LB - Evra or Zambrotta
CDM - Tacchinardi
RM - Camoranesi or Zambrotta
LM - Rothen
CAM - Nedved
FC - Del Piero
SC - Gilardino/Zlatan

Pretty realistic yet classy if you ask me.
this is an amazing squad...although id bring in micoli...
but i wish this was our team at the moment:frown:..i think we would be unstopable:thumb:

Very inbalanced team. 2 strikers, 4 attacking midfielders, 2 wingbacks.... this team might score, but will also be outscored. I'd Move Maresca to the left and add at least a dmf.

Your team is also very weak against a counter-attack.
i hate hearing this notion of Maresca not being able to play that DM role. he played that role basically all his life until he joined piacenza. who cares if he has devloped offensive skills. vieira, emerson, pirlo and even keane in his prime had the same skills, what makes maresca any different?

zambrotta is a super player, great at both attacking and defending. hard working player who would be an upgrade to camoranesi IMO. And kapo on the left wing with van der vaart behind the forwards. it isnt really that unbalanced. and whats most important is that the defence is solid.

Of course, he has always played on that position as far as I'm concerned. But because he is so versatile and infuential for Monaco he has recently also been tried as an attacking midfielder/support striker.

Classic, but certainly not realistic. And it would never work because it's too attacking. Add more defencive players, including another defencive player alongside Tacchinardi, keep Trezeguet and then perhaps you've got a great lineup...
