Juventus director general Luciano Moggi has backed Udinese's stand in their contract row with striker Vincenzo Iaquinta.

Udinese will not consider Iaquinta for the first team while he refuses to sign a new deal and Moggi says: "This is the right way to manage things.

"We experienced similar problems with Vieri, Davids and Miccoli. I don't know the details of the issue, or what has happened behind closed doors, but this is the way you should manage your club.

"Juve are the same. You must act when there is behaviour or words that threaten to undermine the club. Juve will never tolerate such things."

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti is siding with Vincenzo Iaquinta over his contract row with Udinese.
Udinese are refusing to consider Iaquinta for the first team while he refuses to sign a new deal, but Ancelotti says: "For sure, there are some very strange things in our football.

"It is impossible that a player, who has still two contract years, finds himself in such a situation. I say that Iaquinta should be allowed to decide with calm on his new contract, without affecting his own performances."

Why in the hell do we need another tall striker? Seriously, this is becoming ridiculous now...if Capello is truly looking to buy Iaquinta he needs to get his head checked out.

Juve dismiss Iaquinta claim
Friday 23 September, 2005

Juventus insist they have absolutely nothing to do with Vincenzo Iaquinta’s contract dispute at Udinese.

The striker, widely regarded as the Friuli outfit’s best player, was frozen out of the squad on the eve of Wednesday’s game against the Turin giants.

That has inevitably led to whispers of ‘interference’ from the Old Lady, but they have maintained Iaquinta is of no interest.

"Selfishly speaking, I was happy that he didn’t play against us," said transfer guru Luciano Moggi.

"However, I don’t know what the problem is and I can’t comment on it.

"But I will repeat yet again that we have no need for any more strikers, we already have quite enough."

Udinese decided to freeze out the Italian international after talks over a contract extension collapsed given the player’s wage demands.

The club acted in a similar way with playmaker David Pizarro last season before he was sold to Inter in the summer.

"I understand what he is going through because it is often the player who gets the blame," the Chilean told Sky Italia.

"However, it was odd that it happened on the eve of the game against Juventus. This certainly weakened Udinese.

"I hope that he can resolve his problems because he is a very interesting player. There is also his national team to think about so I hope he is back in the side soon."

How could Moggi have interfered with Iaquinta's contract renewal?

well for one thing, this wouldnt be the first time moggi has been linked to the questioning behaviour of a udinese striker (on or off the pitch ;))

when del piero got his big injury we were linked to at that time an on fire muzzi who practiacally carried cagliary on his shoulders. as we all know, muzzi never came here but he did go to udinese. the rumours about him joining our club grew stronger just before the juve-udinese game. at the game muzzi had a penalty which he missed.

everybody was talking about it and a very well known italian soccer show (contro campo ?) had either agnelli or moggi on interview. when he was asked his opinion on the penalty a smiling moggi or agneli (im pretty sure it was moggi) responded " he shot the penalty the was he was supposed to shot it" then he went on to smile got in his car and drove away.

Sounds really fishy like andy said, I mean why in hell would you bother Iaquinta while he still has two years on his contract. It´s not like he could get away on a bosman and he needs to renew urgently like cassano.
