Your dutch friend, Stekyberg.

Or maybe Landreau, he was good last time i saw him.
Stekelenburg would be a good move, but he's got good experience for such a young player, and he's very good technically...

I wouldn't get Landreau, I don't rate him.

Yeah, I'd say that Lehman has two more years left in him, at most. So they should look to buy a new keeper next year.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a complete gamble for United. Sure, they were both relative unknowns at the time they were signed, but I'm sure they were analysed for a long time. I can't see Sir Alex spinning a globe and putting his finger on it, then saying "Hey, let's get a keeper from here"

IMO their best option would be Frey, but then again I don't think he's headed in London's direction

But, they have also tried and failed with some young keepers: Bosnich and Carrol come to mind.

Actually, he was very good for them for a few weeks, then just fell apart. now, he's just a disgrace to football. A sad story really, but it's all his fault.

i'm just saying that if we want to bring in a striker who is going to start in the first 11, they have to have some kind of experience in europe at least.
No doubt, we'd need someone to hit the ground running, once trezeguet is replaced. But having said that, i dont see it happening. If we are to buy Cavenaghi, we'd buy him while trez is there, use him as a back up and then sell trez once Cavenaghi is mature enough to handle the situation. Much the same scenario that ensued when we brought Trez to Turin and used him as Inzaghi's sub, only to sell Pippo soo after.

    yeah...totally agree with that also
the thing is whoever that we bought maybe doesnt like the idea of being a sub for a year or more...
so...how can we avoid this thing to happen?
bought a striker with European experiance?...

I'm not entirely sure that he would have been that good in England. He is a very good keeper, but if he has a weak point is has to be highballs. If you combine that with Arsenal's own lack of aerial ability, it might not be good. I wouldn't really worry about it though, becuas I'm sure that a top club will come calling for him soon.
You're talking about a team with an average height of 6' 2" Ian! They've got bags of ariel ability. Apart from Ljungberg, everyone is 6' or taller on that team.

Bosnich was a great shot-stopper in his prime, but he had no self-control, and he wound up ruining his own career. Caroll is still quite young, and he's Man Utd's #2 keeper.

Height doesn't necessarily equal aerial ability John. Take the game against Celta for example, they were getting bombarded with crosses. They're also not so great on the other end of the pitch; i can't even remember the last time I saw Arsenal score a headed goal

Bosnich is an idiot, i was disgusted by that salute to the Spurs supporters :frown:

They were built on a back-line that included Adams and Keown, two of the best ariel defenders in the game back then. Even now, Campbell is very strong in the air. I wouldn't take a single game as evidence of weakness.

I dont really care who will be the Arsenal keeper next season since it's not Buffon, which is hopefuly quite unlikely to happen. IMO Wenger's only obvious weakness is choosing the right keeper. He waited till DS became too old to be able to stand throughout the whole 90 minutes, and then he bought Lehmann who concedes a goal of his own foult nearly every game. He was the Gunners greatest opposition during the CL group stages.

    About the thread:

Zlatan to replace Trez? Do we need next seasons UEFA trophy so badly??? :wallbang:

    I wouls swap:

    Miccoli for Tevez
    DYO for Obafemi Martins
Del Piero for 30 million euros
    but Trez, only for Seva!

Not all of them, but yeah they ahve a lot of tall players. Unfortunately, Toure doesn't head well, niether does Lauren or Cole, so Campbell is the only good aerial defender. In midfield, Viera is the only aerial player, as Parlour, Edu, Ljungberg, Pires, and Gilberto all suck in the air. Henry and Bergkamp are also less than excellent in the air, the same goes for Kanu strangely enough.

Carrol is done, IMO. He proved that hte pressure of a big team is too much for him. I'd say he could find a nice home at a smaller side, but he'll never make it at an elite club.
