He's 26 so he's not that old either ;)

yes, but what has he proven, though??

I will beat this dead horse until glue and dog food come out of it's pores, but getting Oddo would make the most sense. He's young, proven, has suceeded in Serie A and for the national team, and they could turn around and sell Thuram and get decent value in return for him, instead of waiting a couple of years for his successor and getting next to nothing when he turns 34.

What the hell do you mean what has he proven??? He is one of the best players in Bayern Munchen, probably the best rigt wing in Germany, and has been of great significance to Bayerns domestic titles in the last few years and instrumental in their CL winning season!!! :undecide:

He has proven waaaaay more than Oddo.

    ++ [ originally stated by Ottmar Hitzfeld: ] ++

"Brazzo is the life and soul of the team. He's a positive influence in the dressing room, he always looks forward to the next challenge and even when we lose, he's big enough to stand up and be counted." Words of the highest praise from Ottmar Hitzfeld for Bosnia international Hasan Salihamidzic, one of the game's genuine team players and the kind of professional who gives everything he has at all times.

Continues Hitzfeld: "He's robust and not afraid to mix it. He's so focused on winning he can inspire an entire side and decide a game on his own. Every team needs a player like that." Michael Ballack acknowledges Salihamidzic's almost irreplaceable role at Bayern: "Brazzo is extremely important to us. He's constantly on the move and we get a lot of impulse from him."

The Bosnia star is always sorely missed when he is injured, and last term provided ample evidence: he amassed only 12 appearances (two goals, two assists) before his season ended in November 2002 after a cruciate ligament injury. "The loss of Brazzo means we have a weaker team," Hitzfeld said at the time.

Salihamidzic refused to be downcast by a second cruciate injury in the space of 12 months. "I have to make the best of it, get fit again as quickly as possible and battle to get my place back," he declared. Countless hours in the weights room filled the following months.

The breakthrough finally came in July when he resumed training. "This is the best job in the world," the number 20 smiled. And the long period of rehab had failed to dampen his natural optimism: "You start at the beginning every morning and you should just try and have a better day then yesterday," he says. It is this attitude which has earned him the nickname Brazzo, which roughly translates as 'great guy'. "It's just a cheerful name, and that's what I am," he grins.

    Soccerage.com:

07/15/2003. Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has laughed off Deportivo La Coruna's attempts to convince the German champions to include Hasan Salihamidzic as a sweetener in order to get their No. 1 transfer target Roy Makaay.

Reports in the Spanish media suggest that Depor have demanded the Bosnian international in addition to the €18m that Bayern had originally offered.

"They would have to give us €30m for Hasan," snickered Hitzfeld when asked about whether he was considering caving in to the Spanish side's request.

"We have the luxury of having enough top-class strikers so we are certainly not desperate enough to let someone poker us."

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was later quoted as saying that Bayern have made their final offer and expect a decision from Depor within the week.

    Hasan Salihamidzic

A blend of immaculate defensive and attacking abilities have made the two-footed Hasan Salihamidzic an integral, and highly versatile, figure for both club and country.

    National team
A pivotal player in the Bosnia-Herzegovina national team, Salihamidzic scored four times in his first 20 internationals.

    Club
As a 15-year-old who had played schoolboy football for NK Turbina Jablanica and FK Velez, Salihamidzic left war-torn Bosnia-Herzegovina at his parents' urging in 1992, and he ended up with relatives in Hamburg. He made a name for himself with the local club, Hamburger SV, and first appeared in the Bundesliga in a March 1996 game against Fortuna Düsseldorf. After two years, Bayern came calling in 1998.

1998: A German champion in 1999 and double winner the following season, Ottmar Hitzfeld gave the lightning-quick Salihamidzic a significant role in the march to UEFA Champions League success in 2000/01. He is well-respected by his fellow professionals - Brazil and Real Madrid CF defender Roberto Carlos describes him as being "among the best players in the world". At the end of 2001, after another league success, he had the honour of being named Bosnia-Herzegovina's Player of the Year, a ceremony he missed because of a knee injury.

2002/03: After a promising start to the season, Salihamidzic suffered a setback in November when he again damaged ligaments in his right knee and twice underwent surgery, sitting out the rest of the campaign as the club won the domestic double. However, previous impressive performances led to a two-year contract extension.

    Did you know?
Salihamidzic worked as a waiter to help fund his departure from his home country.

    Oh, OK :embarass:

But it was quite natural of me to missunderstand as you quoted the post where I said Salih is 26 years old ;)

P.S. But we also return from adversaries to friends in a matter of posts ;)

    Understandable.

But anyway, I still feel that Oddo would be a great fit for this team, especially since he is the same age, and can play the RB position quite effectively. I'm not saying that Salih can't, Im just saying that Oddo has proven it in Serie A.

Which leads me to my next question. What was the last successful transfer that Juve has brought in from a Non-Serie A or B team?

I'm thinking it was Trez. I think that Moggi is more inclined to go for a sure thing, than to take a gamble on a player whom no one knows if he will be able to adapt to Italian football.

if U ask me all this hype about Trabelsi is more b/c of his offensive qualities
as a defender... judging his defensive qualitis I would say there are better players who could fill in that position for JUVE!

I think Trabelsi is impeccable both defensively and offensively. He may have occasional slips but all players do and he's both fast and vigilant enough to make up for other player's errors. I've never seen him screw up bad. And offensively, well...

I want a back-up for Zambo as I consider Birindelli to be a right back.
Biri has shown that he is just as good on the left as he is on the right. So, if you consider him good enough to back up Thuram, then he's good enough to back up Zamby.

Am I wrong in thinking that he could be a perfect fit for our defense?

Everyone is talking about how Thuram is sloooooowwwlly getting himself into form, well what if he never gets himself into top form again? Then what.

At least with Tudor, if he can ever get healthy, the top-end potential can be of a premier CB. So Juve can afford to wait a little while longer. Not much longer, but a little while longer. With Biri and Pessotto, those guys are role players, at best. So if Thuram can never regain his form, juve could be screwed.

Oh, and yes, your psychic powers were correct.

    Date of Birth: 01.01.1977
Oh the horror!!! His birthday is the worst day of the year. I'm usually drowning in my own puke, eating all kinds of pills that might make my head stop hurting... trying to figure out who the hell the girl next to me is, and so on... Imagine having your birthday ruined like that. Shit...

I seriously thought he was older, like 30 or something. He doesn't look 26, and I feel like he's been around forever. ok not forever, but you get the idea.

Anyways... whoever thinks Oddo is the better solution, I'm with you.
