Ranieri Confirms Hamsik Interest

Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri has admitted that the club is interested in signing Marek Hamsik, but says that it will be difficult to lure him away from Napoli.

Yesterday’s Italian papers reported that Hamsik was emerging as Juve’s main summer transfer target, and that they were prepared to offer cash, plus allow Marcelo Zalayeta and Manuele Blasi to sign on permanently with Napoli.

"The Slovak we like very much,” Ranieri revealed to Tele A.

“We had our men in the stands watching the squad of [Edy] Reja against Roma on Sunday.

“I can confirm the interest in Hamsik although it will be hard to wrestle him away from the Partenopei.”

Hamsik joined Napoli in the summer from Serie B side Brescia and has been a revelation this season.

He has been an ever-present at the heart of the Azzurri midfield, and has a return of six goals from 27 Serie A games.

Juventus were interested in signing the midfielder last summer, but sporting director Alessio Secco opted to buy Sergio Almiron and Tiago Mendes instead.

Hamsik has won seven caps for the Slovakia national team, scoring twice.

basically we are going to sacrifice giovinco to get hamsik!

I can see why Napoli would be interested in Giovinco - Sell one talented youngster and replace him in the very same deal.It would be silly on our part, even though we'd be getting the same 'Sell one talented youngster, and replace him in the very same deal' bit.But we probably need Giovinco more than we need Hasmik.

Again,Hamsik's usefullness at Juventus cannot be underestimated. If Nedved decides to call it a day,Hamsik would walk into his position naturally. And we do need a replacement for Nedved, but surely not at the cost of Giovinco.

Nah I don't believe Giovinco will leave.
It will cause a storm of criticism from the Juventus fans.
Next to that, I know our board is stupid... but to let go of one of the most promising youngsters in Italy? Doubt it

From what i've seen of both players, Giovinco looks like he's more comfortable playing in Nedveds position..can Hamsik even play on the wing?

Gio for Hamsik makes no sense. It's like Trading Chiellini for Michah Richards.

bull article. If we didn't sell Palla who is half as talneted as Gio, then we won't give up Gio that easy.

They can have Molinaro though :D

This is only a speculation from Tuttosport.
They say that we're interested in Hamsik but that Napoli will make it really hard for us to get him.
So Tuttosport assume that we will have to include someone like Giovinco in order to get Hamsik because players like Zalayeta and Blasi (they wrote Hamsik instead of Blasi in the article) won't be enough for Napoli to accept the deal.

As you can see, nothing concrete, no quotes, no nothing. Only some journalist speculations

I don't think Hamsik ever played on the wing. He is a box to box midfielder, but I'm not sure if he can cross the ball well.

Yeah, he's not a winger for sure but you're wrong about the crosses.

These are the serie A statistics for successfull crosses (note that Hamsik has a match less than the others)

1. Ledesma (Lazio) 59
2. Tissone (Atalanta) 51
3. Hamsik (Napoli) 47
4. Vargas (Catania) 47
5. D'Agostino (Udinese) 46
---------
12. Del Piero (Juventus) 35
