How far would dumbbells at home which I already have at home and pushups/situps etc get me? Not necessarily to get 'big' but just to put on some muscle, i.e. arms, pecs, abs etc. Or would I need to join a gym to do that?

Well the slightest change of stances while doing pushups can work different muscles.

But I'm no expert, so I don't wanna say too much.

Any advice on protein shakes guys? Ive been using phd synergy for the past two months and while it has helped me develop leaner muscle, my aim now is to bulk up. I've been looking at gold standard 100 whey protein, can anyone advise on the product?

I use Star Nutrition Whey-100 and Tech Nutrition Prozyme. The first one when I need the protein to be absorbed quickly (after waking up and post-workout) and the second one is before I go to bed (unless I'm having milk, cottage cheese or something like that instead before bed).

I buy Neutral flavor. They don't taste anything, which is perfect for me, as I tend to find those chocolate, strawberry, banana flavors to be very artificial and bland anyway. But the main reason I buy neutral is that neutral doesn't contain any artificial sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose. That's of huge importance to me. The verdict is still out on aspartame and sucralose, but the amounts of complaints sent in to WHO and national food agencies are staggering. I just don't want that it my body, at all, at least not on a regular basis.

Another good thing about these two products is that they mix really well in water and milk. I've used them for months, and they haven't "lumped" on me even once.

About Gold Standard 100 Whey, a lot of people like that one. But it contains sucralose, so I'm never gonna use it.

I see Tech Nutrition is only made in Norway, so forget about that one then :D

But Star Nutrition Whey-100 is my go-to anyway, so ... and my favourite of the two.

Thanks for the response Jem, very informative. Pity those products aren't sold here though

I don't mind the taste of the protein shakes to be honest but I would prefer not to be having artificial sweeteners in my diet where possible.

I think I might go with the gold standard whey protein. A lot of good reviews to be found online about the product.

Gym time :weee:

Enjoy, bud

I hit the weights yesterday, so today I'm gonna relax with that. But I will be doing light cardio in about an hour from now.
