probably food intake, how are your meals troughout the day ?
That's the thing though, it isn't. I try to cut down on carbs and eat more proteins and vegetables. I eat 2 big meals a day and during the rest of the day I'll have a small sandwich, protein shake or a fruit here and there. During the weekends I obviously don't restrict myself and I eat out and drink alcohol.

I think the problem could be in the fact that when I actually do eat, I tend to fill the plate just a bit too much.

Thing is, I know that I could go down to under 75 kg pretty fast if I starved myself and spent all day on the treadmill but I'm not really interested in that because I will just end up gaining the weight again. I'm trying to lose weight by building muscles at the same time.

Hehe, I just edited the post, what do you think about the last part? Losing weight by lifting wieghts and building muscles?
You cant do both at once

With higher fat % you can build more muscle cause you can lift more, and from may till september, you could focus on burning off the fat

Thats genetic. traps are usually the first muscle to really pop out tho.

Big traps, naturally, could be an indicator of a good deadlift !

How are your back excercises going compared to the rest ?
I tend to mix my back workouts in with my shoulder workouts. At present I'm doing cable pull-downs, wide angle pull ups, standing dumbell flys for back and then dumbbell shoulder press', raises (lateral and front), shrugs, arnold press' and dumbbell bent over rows for the shoulders.

I try to put the weight for each exercise every couple of weeks or so.

you will burn more fat with bigger muscles, but you can't make significant strides without watching what you eat
I just had a large pizza all to myself because it's cheat day and I earned it :)

D'oh :D sorry, very well actually, I'm noticing some real definition there, especially the upper back and lats where I've been concentrating on more so. If it's any sign of progress at all, I've learned that I can flex my lats now

I know that I need to set aside some time for squats, dead lifts and likes though. I've really neglected these since I hurt my back a month or so ago, that and my left knee is acting up also.

I've given up a lot of other things, indian & mexican food, crisps, fries, burgers, pork in general, chocolate etc. The odd pizza here and there though is my one and only vice.
That and the booze of course, but I'm Irish so it's a cultural thing :D

That's awesome, thanks for sharing. They do show some of the training on the dvd extras also, the tyre lift exercises look really tough

@Zacheryah or anyone else that does gym, what is the difference between a tricep pushdown and a high pulley tricep extension? As i have both listed on my tricep circuit, and from what i can see online they seem almost identical!

High pulley is that the one where you sit facing away from the machine, and extend your arms entirely upwards, then lower behind the head, and repeat ?

cause thats entirely diffrent from pushdowns

Ok could be that, cause when i tried searching on google/youtube, the person was facing the machine for high pulley, but what you are saying makes sense, so i'll try that later on when i head to the gym! Cheers

If its the one i tought, well basically you both work the triceps, but in a diffrent way

However, instead of pulley's, i'd do skullcrushers. Lying or standing. both are excellent

Make small changes to your lifestyle first, fad and impact diets or even exercise are a waste of time in the long run. It has to be something you can put into a regular routine.
