Oh I understand the jeallousy. When I go on Brittish soccer sites I expect the hate. But on a site dedicated to passion for an ITALIAN team I would expect that there would be almost none of that type of sentiment.

There really isnt much Azzurri hate on here. A majority of the forum have nothing against the Azzurri but the few who do are very vocal about it.

The witchhunt has had its advantages though.

I saw a lot of people that rated Grosso before he came here. Despite him being inconsistent and poor in front of quality opposition while in the Ligue. Even quality players like Giovinco have been overrated at times here, i remember having an argument with somebody(can't remember who?) on who was more talented Giovinco or Messi

Also young Italians are always rated highly here. Big flops like De Silvestri, Cigarini and the likes, people always wanted them at Juve.

They were our youth products Fred. Nothing is lovelier than your favorite club producing young talents, introducing them to the the first level. Believe me, if those young players were Ghanaian, Uzbek or Chinese we'd have still been excited about them, starting to overrate them and hoping for them to be big players in future only to brag about how we're building our team's structure based on our OWN young players. It has absolutely nothing to do with them being Italian.

If you had a Molinaro crossing to the Alps week in week out for your team, you would have even rated Giovanni Pasquale. We used to rate all the left backs in the world back then and we still rate 90% of them

What I said about our youth academy products still applies here. Marchisio, Giovinco, Marrone, Immobile, etc. They are being overrated here but it's not because they are Italian. Teams like Barca and Ajax are two fine examples and everyone would love to see his/her team to be like them in terms of caring about the youth teams. Barca' young talents are normally Spanish, Ajax's are mostly Dutch so it's no surprise that ours are Italian but the hype around them is not related to their "Italian blood".

I remember they wanted Kharja and Jimenez here at times (when they were playing for Ternana), Meghni (the new Zidane) or Udinese's Felipe, none of which were Italian. You can't deny that De Silvestri and Cigarini had promising seasons so just like many other one-two season wonders, people love to want them all at their favorite team. You just have to take a look at the whole picture. We're playing in Italy where the most footballers are Italian. So the probability for them being those over-hyped wonders are more than the non-Italian players.

Not really, if they were Uzbek or Chinese, nobody would watch their matches for their national team, unlike folks around here with the Azzurrini. Plus most fas have the stereotype that lesser known countries produce lesser players, so if you combine the two, folks have a natural bias against players that are not Italian, simply through ignorance. Moreover, since many here are indeed Azzurri fans, their optimism and hope for the future naturally clouds their judgement.

But the problem is more folks want Italian players in the first place, considering it is an Italian club. This is what one could call a natural bias.

The sheer fact of the matter is that when you line up player by player, Italian vs. Non-Italian, the majority of the forum will take the Italian player, both due to ignorance and the natural bias that this is an Italian club. People tend to stick with what they know, so that's why you see people here claiming Barzagli is our best option while saying Pepe sucks.

Yes, that's another problem. The fanboys here typically tend to use the fact that some players won the World Cup to defend their ability, which is absolute nonsense, as any sane fan understands.

It's like me saying Mikey Bradley is better than Cesc Fabregas just because we finished higher than Spain at the Confederations Cup, or Onyewu is better than Rafa Marquez just because we won the Gold Cup.

I've seen such nonsense plenty of times on here, from an array of posters.
