i would say as a sicilian englishman, that the slovenians pose the greatest threat to England in this group. They are tricky, and unpredictable. The yanks main, perhaps only strength, is their bottle, which fortunately, england have in abundance already. Its like Scotland v England...but without the local rivalries.
England have a striker as talented as any other in the world, in Rooney. a very solid, and exceptionally capable midfield, if Lennon and Barry can continue their decent form and gerrad can stay fit, and a defence which is tight and well enough marshalled to be secure against most opponents.
The biggest problem with Capello's team is in goal. For many years, we have lacked a world class keeper. Its such a shame, as Lampard, Terry, Ferdinand, Gerrard, Rooney...offers a world class spine, which unfortunately can come undone, at the last line of defence.
Give England Buffon, and they would be favourites...fuck it...even give them Manninger and their chances would be improved.
I don't understand it. but clearly, its a worry.
The battle with the US will be my highlight, because the US are alongside the spaniards, my most equally despised team...and I have never been happier than when I saw De Rossi break McBrides face, then plead his innocence to the referee, whilst poor brian was bleeding profusely behind him...hohohooho!!...perhaps my finest world cup memory of all time. Other than when Baggio beat spain and nigeria singelhandedly in 94.
I expect 1st and 2nd to be England and Slovenia.

England will choke, like they always do. Their ignorant, annoying, arrogant fans annoy me to no end. I will need to find a Scottish pub, so I can support the opposition with passion and fervour 
England has a lot of scum, as does the US, as does germany, as does the Balkan states, as does Italy, and all countries in the world...
I despise hooligans, of any team, yet never would go further than saying...well, they have a bad reputation i will admit, but im sure many are lovely goons!

I learned long ago, as a child, that its actually a confirmation, a vlidation, of my own worth, when i mix with scum and they despise me...for I would be more concerned, if folks who appeared to me, utter vermin, took a liking to me.
I am hardly a patriot. and my blood is half country british, half sicilian fisherman...and even though I will readily accept, promote even, the massive amount of artistic beauty and talent eminating from the US, at the same time, it has by far the highest Scum % and Dumb % of any westernized nation on the planet.
