Higuain was (and has always been) a brilliant goalscorer in domestically, scoring goals and showing up like there's no tomorrow.

Unfortunately, that's not the reason why Higuain had previously the highest salary of all Serie A players (€7.5m)

He was signed with only one objective: Bring the Champions League for Juventus

Sadly, Higuain has failed in that task as he failed to be decisive in far too many UCL KO-stage games.

There's a reason why Real Madrid have won 4 UCLs in the past 5 seasons with Benzema up-front instead of Higuain.
Yes, Ronaldo, Modric, Bale, Marcelo, Ramos....
Yeah... Let's ignore that Benzema made 44 goals in 85 UCL-matches (averaging 0,52 goal/game) throughout his entire RM-career and is 4th highest top scorer ever in the tournament's history if we include his numbers from Lyon. Scored 16 goals in UCL KO-stage and many of them were decisive for helping RM going through. Since 2013-14 season, Benzema has accomplished nearly 25 goals in 50 games.

For comparison, Higuain made a grand total of 9 goals in 48 matches for Real Madrid.

Absolutely pathetic record from him. RM made the right decision for get rid of Higuain and make Benz as undisputed No.1

Real Madrid would not have won their 4 UCL-titles in 5 seasons with Higuain up-front lol

"Tra i giocatori attualmente in attività, solamente Ronaldo (395), Messi (383), Ibrahimovic (268) e Cavani (228), hanno segnato più gol di Gonzalo #Higuain (218) nei migliori 5 campionati europei. Valore" - OPTA

So only Ronaldo, Messi, Ibra and Cavani have scored more goals than him in top 5 leagues.
What's the point for showing that stat?

Even his biggest detractors won't deny that Higauin is a amazing goalscorer in league competitions.

Who is ignoring that? But to allow him to score and for them to win so many CL titles they need more than Benzema, and they have an excellent team full of top players that plays in an attacking system. They wouldn't have won these titles with Benzema on his own.

The Real Madrid team that Higuain was part of was completely different to the team of the past 5 years. They didn't win the CL in his time there and only won La Liga twice (and the difference isn't simply because one team had Benzema and the other Higuain). I'm not arguing who is the better player but it's very simplistic to compare the statistics of two players playing in completely different teams, of a very different standard not to mention that Higuain left Real before hitting him prime.

Selling him is going to be tough. He wants 8m net at his next club and transfer fee will be over 50m for a 31 year old who doesn't look like he takes care of himself that well.

But I guess his league stats speak for themselves

Juventus are requesting €18m for the loan of Higuain, with an obligation to buy set at €38m. [@Gazzetta_it]
56m is not bad, not bad at all for Higgy. However, we went from wanting 60m straight to wanting 18m + 38m obligation, I wonder how low will we go to get rid of Gonzalo's wages, it's obvious that we are having difficulties

Di Marzio:

Gonzalo and his brother Nicolas Higuaín, will meet Juventus today to establish the conditions of the player's exit before they begin dealing with other clubs. They have come to understand that Pipita no longer has a place at Juventus.
